About Augment Code

Augment Code is the only AI coding assistant built for professional software engineers working in large, production‑grade codebases. Our Context  Engine understands your entire repo, enabling developers to stay in flow while writing, reviewing, and understanding code. Backed by top‑tier investors and trusted by engineering teams at leading tech companies, Augment Code is redefining how modern software is built.

About the Role
We’re looking for our first People Ops Lead to help shape the foundation of how Augment scales. This isn’t a policy role or about checking boxes. It’s about building programs and experiences that actually fit our culture and help people do their best work.

We’re more than doubling headcount this year on the back of explosive business momentum, and we need someone who thrives in fast-moving environments and sees opportunity in the messy challenges of growth. You’ll design and run performance reviews that people find useful, onboarding that makes new hires feel like they’ve joined something special, benefits that are easy to navigate, and thoughtful support for leaders as they grow their teams.

This is a role for a builder who gets energized by creating from scratch rather than copying what’s been done before. If you’ve guided a company through hyper-growth, that’s a big plus.
Your Mission

Design and implement people programs that help Augment thrive during hypergrowth—making sure our culture scales alongside our headcount and business momentum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build performance management, feedback, and growth processes that feel genuinely useful for employees and managers.
  • Design and execute onboarding programs that help new hires feel part of something special from day one.
  • Develop benefits and perks that are easy to understand, simple to use, and tailored to our team.
  • Partner with leaders to provide smart, scalable support as they grow their organizations.
  • Create processes and policies where needed, but always with creativity and cultural fit in mind.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen culture, collaboration, and employee experience.
Key Competencies
  • Creative problem-solver who prefers designing programs from first principles rather than copy-pasting playbooks.
  • Empathy and strong listening skills, with the ability to turn feedback into thoughtful action.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-moving environments.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strategic thinker who also loves rolling up their sleeves and executing.
Required Experience
  • Experience in People Ops, HR, or a related role at a high-growth startup.
  • Proven track record designing and implementing people programs that scale.
  • Familiarity with performance reviews, onboarding, benefits, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, ideally partnering with executives and functional leaders.
  • Deep expertise in HR systems (Rippling preferred).
  • Experience navigating hyper-growth environments (big plus).
Employee Benefits:
  • Flexible work hours
  • Competitive salary & Equity
  • Tools Stipend
  • Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance
  • Short Term and Long Term Disability
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off + Holidays. We focus on trust and ownership, not time in the chair
  • Numerous company social events

We will do everything we can within reason to make sure that your interview takes place in an environment that fairly and accurately assesses your skills. If you need assistance or accommodation, please contact your recruiter.
