Overview

As Director of Product Management for Journey, you will report to the VP of Product and lead Product Management for the Tonal experience beyond the workout. This role is responsible for product experiences focused on keeping members motivated and inspired on their fitness journeys, with an emphasis on habit formation, celebrating progress, and community.

In this role, you’ll recruit, lead, and mentor a team of Product Managers. You’ll collaborate with the Executive Team and stakeholders across the company to develop strategies and roadmaps for key components of the product experience. You’ll also work cross-functionally with the Software and Design teams to execute and deliver on those plans. 

Candidates should be excellent at building enthusiasm and alignment throughout the company toward an inspirational vision of product strategy. As an owner of solutions, you are accountable for guiding teams from opportunity definition to a series of solutions aligned with our strategy. You will move quickly, embrace ambiguity, inspire and empower those around you to build, ship, and iterate.

What You Will Do

Planning & Alignment

  • Guide development of product strategy and roadmap, with input from leadership, for Journey, including Mobile, Achievements, Leaderboards, and Community
  • Ensure strategy and roadmap alignment with company priorities and push the envelope on accepted wisdom of what’s needed and what’s possible
  • Own roadmaps and update these regularly with key hypotheses and milestones, determining the product, design, and engineering teams needed to support these roadmaps
  • Be a true partner with design, software engineering, content, marketing on strategy and roadmap
  • Align directly with the executive leadership team on strategy, roadmap, and plans for product execution
  • Deliver insightful and persuasive product recommendations to leadership
  • Identify bottlenecks and work cross-functionally to make process improvements to increase organizational efficiency in order to ship great products

Leadership

  • Lead and inspire Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers, enabling high performance and removing obstacles
  • Collaborate with leadership to articulate a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates teams and focuses their energy on achieving business goals
  • Be a great storyteller and utilize the language of customer experience to align the company
  • Regularly interact with customers
  • Have a thorough understanding of the connected fitness space
  • Be a key advocate and speaker for the product, including interfacing with executives at partner companies
  • Be a creative thinker who can generate and execute on innovative product ideas

Management

  • Employ an empowering and engaging management style
  • Manage a strong team of Product Managers, including career planning, performance management, and exceptional initiatives
  • Develop a hiring plan, recruit, and build the Product Management team
  • Implement good product management processes to increase team velocity, quality, and accountability
  • Manage and ensure efficient day-to-day execution of all product activities -- remove obstacles and get things done as quickly as possible

Who You Are

  • 10+ years experience shipping consumer products
  • 5+ years of experience building and leading teams
  • Experience with behavior change and motivation a plus
  • Experience with community and social a plus
  • Experience with fitness a plus
