In this role, you'll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in four key areas:

    • You'll be responsible for fostering a strong agile discipline and inspiring teams to continuously improve delivery evidenced through key agility metrics
    • You'll partner with Technology leaders to influence end-state architecture and drive secure, resilient, performant and scalable technology solutions that solve material customer and business problems
    • You'll govern the responsible and efficient application of technology resources by assessing opportunities for reusing existing solutions, clearly defining minimum viable products, and always building with extensibility in mind


  • Transformational Leadership
    • You'll establish a long-term product portfolio strategy, informed by customer and business needs, and partner with leaders and stakeholders to regularly drive alignment, secure resources and overcome impediments
    • You'll attract, grow, empower, and inspire top product talent as they develop and deliver on their local product strategy in an iterative, outcome-focused and well-managed way


What You'll Do

  • Drive the vision for personalization of our Home and Capital One app experience. Currently reaching more than 40M users per month, your product will improve customer and business outcomes in the short- and long-term.
  • Collaborate with business and analyst partners to ensure our personalization system is built to automatically drive business and customer outcomes
  • Clearly articulate, evangelize, and align the organization behind the personalization strategy and value proposition
  • Build a 2 year roadmap and execution strategy with the team by understanding customer and business needs and utilizing data and stakeholder feedback to drive prioritization
  • Partner with Data Science and Technology teams to research, define, and develop the architecture that will support ML-driven personalization
  • Define metrics and KPIs we will use to measure the success of our models and recommendation systems
  • Build relationships and partnerships with teams across the company, align on strategy, vision, execution and enablement.
  • Mentor and lead a team of product managers


Who You Are

  • Experience defining strategy, building product roadmaps, working with large cross-functional teams and shipping at scale with a specific focus on personalization
  • Understanding of and experience with modern ML/AI approaches and as they relate to personalization and recommendation systems
  • Track record of successfully operating within a highly matrixed work environment with multiple stakeholders including building successful partnerships with data science and engineering groups
  • You have experience leading product teams and are deeply committed to coaching, mentoring, and supporting future leaders. You're not afraid to be hands on, get into the weeds, and act as a player-coach when needed.
  • Consumer-centric view with a proven track-record of developing and acting on customer insights
  • Experience with A/B testing, hypothesis validation, user testing and analytics software
  • Documented success building, managing and retaining high-performance teams
  • Ability to clearly identify the tradeoffs of product KPIs and decisions
  • A clear thinker with external focus and excellent communication and relationship building skills; ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple manner
  • Strong analytical skills and a hypotheses-driven approach to problem solving
  • Flexibility to quickly adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in digital product management


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • MBA or Master's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile product management
  • 5+ years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $228,500 - $260,800 for Director, Product Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
