The Product Team at Kinship is at the forefront of digital services and platforms for millennial pet parents. We’re product manager, designers, and researchers driving true innovation in the pet world through the development of platforms that benefit consumers and their pets. Backed by a global leader and focused on the future of pet care, our team is a go-getting, dedicated group committed to bringing everyone closer to their pet and making that experience about ease and joy.

We’re seeking a product design leader and visionary who is eager to bring their talents to all of Kinship’s well-loved brands as well as new emerging businesses. Our Head of Product Design & UX will both inspire and lead Kinship’s designers and drive the design vision and strategy that help us create world-class experiences for today’s pet parents and beyond. This person is up for the challenge of driving unified and cohesive design systems behind the scenes while allowing the distinctiveness of our brands to shine. They’ll advocate for the consumer as hard as they’ll advocate for their design team, all while building consensus and developing a high-performing team. 

HOW YOU’LL HELP EVERYONE PET PARENT LIKE A PRO

• Position Kinship’s products as distinctive, world-class digital experiences that make it easier to be a pet parent
• Develop, nurture, and grow a unified product design team across several business units while creating a strong design culture 
• Provide leadership and design direction within your team and across the organization with clear rationale for design decisions
• Collaborate with Brand, Marketing, and external agencies to balance the need to keep things fresh with the best user outcomes and customer experiences
• Advance a human-centered experience by partnering with our Research team on user testing and usability testing, while also leveraging our market research 
• Develop a common design language across Kinship’s new and existing properties
• Foster a team with startup sensibilities that moves with pace while maintaining quality
• Represent the uniqueness of Kinship brands like Wisdom Panel and Whistle while shaping how we use systems to connect them to our emerging new businesses
• Own the full design process leading to deliverables that are on-time, detailed, and polished
• Drive the evolution of our tools and processes across Kinship that will drive efficiency and ease as well as great results

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• 8+ years experience in digital product design with proven experience leading the design of interconnected products
• A strong people manager with 4+ years managing designers, and the motivation to support the development for a half dozen designers
• A respected designer and product leader with a track record of designing elegant and intuitive experiences
• Ability to mentor and direct a team working across a broad and diverse array of opportunities and challenges
• Experience applying design principles across desktop, mobile web and native mobile applications
• Ability to align key executive leaders and produce design outcomes that get thumbs up from users and stakeholders alike
• Proven success in a fast-paced environment with resilience in the face of evolving priorities
• Experience leading collaborative projects that span multiple teams and disciplines
• Excellent verbal, analytical, written, and organizational skills
