The value of this position
The Head of Cyber/Tech E&O/Crime is a newly created role that is accountable for growing Cyber, Tech E&O and Crime while meeting or beating target loss ratios. In addition, the Head of Cyber, Tech E&O and Crime is responsible for a referral underwriter who will underwrite business that falls outside of our online quoting platform, expand the appetite of our online quoting platform, optimize our portfolio, assist the insurance product manager in refining our risk and product/market fit and assist the insurance team in our strategic initiatives.

- Grow your business:
- What: Accountable for beating annual GWP budget for your product lines (Cyber, Tech E&O and Crime);
- How: Developing and continuously improving Product/Market Fit, Breadth of Appetite, Price, Rating & Forms Competitiveness, Avg Premium, and Renewal Retention and New Business Growth.
- Beat the Pegged Loss Ratio:
- What: Accountable for meeting or beating 2021 Projected Loss Ratio (“Peg”) & generating favorable Prior Year Development.
- How: Developing and continuously improving Forms & Endorsements, UW Guidelines, Book Mix, Rate Plans, Price Adequacy/Segmentation, Frequency & Severity Mix, Loss & Firmographic Data, UW Guidelines, Emerging Risk tracking and action plans, Tracking and setting action plans around Large Loss Lessons and
- Risk on/Risk Off:
- What: Accountable for underwriting and revenue capture of risks that fall outside of the automated platform. Improve platform appetite and underwriting efficacy with referral insights.
- How: Manage front line referral underwriting of risks that fall outside of the platform to ensure price, structure, coverage acceptability. Convert 100% of acceptable referrals into premium.
- Capture referral learnings and continuously improve appetite breadth, uw thesis and unintended consequences of platform.
- Review portfolio to cull/improve bottom 1% of the book.
- This role may include a direct report.
- Insurance Team Project Work:
- Assist the insurance team and insurance product managers in project work that drives growth, scale, insurance profitability and radically simplifying insurance.
What experience we think is the right fit
- College Degree required.
- Minimum 10 years of technical cyber and/or tech E&O underwriting experience.
- High level Proficiency in policy language and legal concepts affecting cyber and professional liability.
- Insurance product management and/or portfolio management is a plus.
