Lead User Researcher, Consumer
About the roleÂ
Put members first - that’s the User Research team’s north star. We’re seeking a Lead User Researcher that has at least 5+ years of experience researching products that span the digital, physical, or service spaces to join our small team of 14 (soon to be 20+) researchers. You’ll be working on our mobile banking products and the services that support it by uncovering people’s financial behaviors by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, specifically focused on our Consumer and new product experiences to understand people’s evolving needs to improve their financial health. This is an opportunity to be the voice of Chime’s members to build zero-to-one products at Chime. If you’ve ever wondered how digital, physical, and service products intersect with people and their financial lifestyle, the Chime User Research team might just be the best place for you.
This role can be performed out of our San Francisco office, Chicago office, or remotely in the US. This role cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Lead and conduct thoughtful research on company strategy, products, and services to help our growing base of members with their financial health
- Proactively drive your own research roadmap to answer most impactful questions for your team, balancing strategic, foundational research, with tactical research support
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders from Product, Design, Marketing, and Analytics to understand our members and unearth problems we should be focused on
- Develop mixed method research studies that include the stakeholders in every step of the process from study concept to insight delivery
- Produce research artifacts that are human, engaging, concise and actionable to inform what we’re learning about members, and what we should do about what we learn
- Act as a champion for high caliber user advocacy throughout Chime and champion our members first in all decisions
- Coach junior researchers and interns to develop their research craft
To thrive in this role, you have    Â
- Will have 5+ years of user research experience for consumer products that have digital and physical experiences
- Quickly and independently designed research studies that have positively influenced user needs and business metrics, bonus if you have experience leading foundational research to inform new product experiences from the ground up
- Conducted collaborative research methods and shown a willingness to never settle for research reports
- A natural curiosity for people and what makes them tick
- Demonstrated excellent communication and collaboration skills, proactively initiating research with cross functional stakeholders
- Experience conducting various research methodologies such as survey writing, survey analysis, user interviews, usability testing, journey mapping, and field studies.
- Experience working in a startup environment (high growth startups a strong plus)
