Candidates who are willing to relocate are also encouraged to apply.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Verana is investing in acquiring ophthalmic imaging data as a new data modality to integrate with clinical data derived from electronic health records in support of internally-driven research areas and engagements with life sciences partners. In this role, you will own the execution strategy and roadmap for Verana’s burgeoning clinicoimaging data product offerings built using multimodal ophthalmic images from one of the world's largest existing datasets of linked ophthalmic clinical and imaging data. We are in the early stages of development for our clinicoimaging data product line, so you will have the opportunity to shape and own the end-to-end product development lifecycle, as well as ensure that our clinicoimaging data products are in support of and alignment with broader organizational goals.

This role will report directly to the Director of Product Management - Data & Informatics leading the Data Curation function within the Product team at Verana. The Data Curation product team comprises product managers and informaticists who manage our Verana data curation platform, which harmonizes and enriches our data sources, ultimately producing disease-specific, de-identified data sets that can be used for real-world evidence generation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Define clinicoimaging product strategy and roadmap in collaboration with subject matter experts from the business, clinical, & quantitative sciences teams
  • Communicate this strategy and progress against the roadmap to all relevant contributors and stakeholders
  • Manage and lead the development and delivery of clinicoimaging data products by a cross-functional team of engineers, data architects, informaticists, quantitative scientists, designers, and clinicians
  • Deeply understand imaging stakeholders and partners, and translate their use cases into product requirements to ensure that our products are valuable
  • Understand and account for business constraints from finance, information security, legal, and commercial to ensure that our products are viable and compliant
  • Engage directly with stakeholders to provide post-delivery support and gather feedback on pain points and opportunities for improvement
  • Become a domain expert in real-world evidence generation and Verana’s data capabilities, and act as a leader in these areas within the organization

Basic Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ direct experience managing the development of data products (e.g., curated data sets that consumers directly access and/or interfaces built on top of them)
  • Hands-on experience working with multimodal health data sets (ideally, real-world data including imaging data) and deep understanding of healthcare data workflows and governance
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycle from requirements definition through roll-out
  • Ability to work in a consensus-driven way as part of an interdisciplinary team of engineers, clinicians, business technical analysts, information security, devOps, informaticians, quantitative sciences, data quality scientists, user researchers and designers
  • Demonstrated product management skill set: feature prioritization, asset evaluation, change management, impact analysis, risk mitigation, cross-functional collaboration, clear written & verbal communication
  • Working understanding of big data platform architecture, data modeling, normalization, & transformation
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry’s strategy and business processes, including clinical trials, new drug introduction and clinical operations
  • Ability to query data at a basic level using SQL or similar
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high levels of ambiguity, limited structure, and shifting priorities

Bonus:

  • Experience working with ophthalmic imaging data
  • Working understanding of imaging analytical methodologies and machine learning techniques
  • Experience using and experimenting with different data delivery and access platforms and tools (e.g., Databricks, SFTP, APIs)
  • Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools like JIRA and Asana
  • Understanding of the ophthalmology, urology, and/or neurology clinical domains
  • Background or training in data science
