We believe that everyone can and should automate the tools they use every day.

The Tray Platform empowers anyone to do more, faster by harnessing automation with the leading, low-code general automation platform.

With Tray.io, citizen automators throughout organisations can easily automate complex processes through a powerful, flexible platform, and can connect their entire cloud stack thanks to APIs.

What is the opportunity

Tray’s vision is to empower problem solvers to create and distribute software automation. At the core of this automation evolution lies the ability to quickly build, distribute and update software solutions against business challenges.

This vision is built on top of the core of our platform - the low-code workflow builder.

The workflow builder is a visual programming experience with a drag and drop interface to integrate tools (like Slack and Salesforce), enrich and manipulate data and then create automation by applying logic.

To continue to be best-in-class in our space, UX is pivotal to success, so we're looking for a talented, holistic-minded product designer who will take the lead on this experience, and pave the way for democratized software creation.

We are not seeking to just implement features, but rather to craft our own visual language for a new way of creating software, accessible to anyone with the slightest interest in doing so.

Asking yourself questions like: What would the ideal visual programming experience look like? How can Tray craft product concepts and interaction paradigms that allow people to build software integrations without code?

If these sound like puzzles you are eager to help us solve, we can’t wait for you to apply.

What will you be doing day-to-day

Think deeply about software automation

Tray is a complex problem space that requires a deep understanding of both user problems and the architecture/system that makes the product work.

You will be able to think holistically about it and translate research insights into ideas that solve customer problems and bring to light growth opportunities for the product.

Work as a Product trio

Knit collaboration with Research, PMs, Engineering, and other stakeholders is required to understand technical constraints and the market/business constraints as the team builds and ships carefully crafted product features.

Design, design, and more...design

Designing such a complex product comes with all the trappings of what it means to be a sharp designer and own the process: leading research, facilitating ideation and feedback sessions to drive constant iteration of features, collaborating with teammates and stakeholders to refine them, etc.

Use design to drive strategy

Ideas for new initiatives aren’t just handed off to designers in a fully-fledged state. At Tray, designers partner with PMs to build roadmaps around high-impact problems that help both the customers and the company thrive.

Everyone on the team has a voice to give structure to a vision, even in the “what if” stage.

Walk in customer’s shoes

Tray has a diverse customer base, which translates into a broad set of customer needs. You’ll partner with research, PM, customer success managers, and other disciplines to understand customer needs in different industries and conduct interviews and feedback sessions.

Using the product to automate your life will help you empathize with our workflow builders 🙃.

Help our design team continue growing

The design culture at Tray is a living, breathing organism. You’ll be regularly contributing to critiques, collaborating closely with the other design team members, elevating the design craft, and helping improve the design process.

Who you are

You’re an experienced Product Designer

...Who has worked on designing technical digital products and systems ( SaaS products, technical software products, etc) or have a background in areas such as engineering, computational/systems thinking, or software development.

You’re on a constant quest for learning

You are excited to get your head around some more technical concepts and see the chance to work with Tray’s product as an opportunity to learn.

We won't expect you to know about APIs at all, but we would hope you want to understand more.

You’re orbiting the complex problem hairball

We’re not short of challenging, hairy problems to solve at Tray. If owning end-to-end processes, working through ambiguity to bring clarity both to the product team and beyond is your thing, then you’ve come to the right place.

You're confident in making yourself the 'go-to person for communicating any element of the product area you own, both within the wider Engineering team and amongst business stakeholders.

Team sports is your ball game

Working closely with other designers, engineers, PMs, and researchers is your way of making an impact. You understand that the team effort is greater than the sum of its parts.

Fostering an open and transparent working environment and pushing teammates to grow is paramount to helping our design team to be the best it can be.

Developing our product, team, and culture means reflecting and sometimes challenging our practice and approach. We are open to adapting and growing.

Your team will fully support you to do your best work.

Our team is humble but fiercely ambitious people, who take immense pride in what they do. We work in a culture built on friendship, transparency, and above all, looking out for one another.

The heart of Tray is made of generosity and trust. It is a community built on individual interactions between people who think differently; who are always available to help, to answer questions and to empower. You'll have endless opportunities to learn and grow in a fun, fast-paced, and open environment. We love to achieve things that haven’t been done before.

We believe in diversity and equal opportunity.

We believe that in building diversity we build strength. We encourage all to apply, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status. We will make sure that people with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process.
