About You and The Role  

At Zipline we are investing in building our Software Tooling for Clients and Customers. We have a small, mighty and growing technology team and are building our Software Product Team and working culture. 

As a Sr. Software Product Manager you will be the pioneer hire, and get to define how product works with software at Zipline. You will work on the Client Experience Team to build out the end-to-end vision for what tooling we should build for our Clients and Customers, and how we should fold them into our business strategy. And you will be the primary partner with the Tech Leads for actually developing the tools and bringing them to market and doing continuous improvement of the products.   

The ideal candidate will have the experience in creating new external facing products, developing the release strategy, and improving existing products. You've had to lead cross-functional work.  You see problems and go after them, and obsess over both the clients and customers. You view your role as being in-service to all of your internal and external partners. The way in which you work with others matters just as much as the quality of the results.

What You'll Do  

  • Manage the full Product Life Cycle starting with research & business strategy for creating the entire Software Toolkit for our Clients and Customers
    • Assist Global Client Experience and Integration in coordinating with sales, marketing, development, and client support to bring together divergent ideas and convince various stakeholders to rally behind a single product vision
    • Work with Global Client Experience to manage the product roadmap, including documenting product strategy, maintaining the feature backlog, and coordinating releases
  • Determine the Product needs & how Product requirements relate to overall business  strategy
    • Work closely with internal and external resources to define system requirements that meet changing market needs and ensure client satisfaction and product quality
    • Analyze various product inputs, client requirements, designing solution architectures and developing the business case for new product development 
    • Organize market research including analyzing client segments, reviewing industry research reports, and assessing strengths and weaknesses of competitors to define new opportunities
    • Gather  inspiration and ideas by visiting clients regularly and reviewing software and other products that solve similar problems in other domains
  • Work with the Software Team to build the Technology Roadmap
    • Collaborate with the Software Team to develop the Product Team’s process for alongside of the software services team 
    • Prepare software design plans including product specifications, use case documentation and user interface wireframes (both independently and with assistance from our product marketing and software  teams)
  • Own overall product release strategy and business plan for market release 
    • Collect direct client feedback by working with Zipline’s cross-functional teams,  organizing user tests, studying client support incidents, administering user surveys, and visiting clients to study product interaction in their natural environment

  • You have good Program Management skills and are highly organized

  • You have an extraordinary eye for usability and the client experience with a good sense of design
  • You can gravitate towards simplistic and logical workflow design that creates a positive and efficient client experience

Must Have: Critical Thinking Skills

  • You are a Super Fast Learner!
  • You have a strong intuition to get into the details of the problem 
  • You’re able to analyze the problem and design creative solutions 

Must Have: Career Experience

  • You know how and when to conduct in-person user research (not just desk research)
  • You know how and when to apply different design methodologies  and have career examples to show
  • You have built products for external users
  • You have owned a product from inception to first-release
  • You have managed continuous improvement on existing products 
  • You have built tools that are used to execute workflows
  •  

Nice to Have

  • You have worked in fast-paced, high-growth environments like startups
  • You have experience mentoring others (you will be the first Software Product Manager hire!)
  • You have experience building tools that have had some regulatory complexity 
  • You have built tools for global, multi-language markets
  •
