The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for driving the growth and success of Benchling’s academic user base. We are looking for a talented and hard-working team member who will grow and develop academic marketing initiatives. This individual will be responsible for building community programs and expanding our academic footprint to make Benchling the de facto software for research in the life sciences. Additionally, this individual will interface with different teams to successfully execute cross-functional initiatives targeted to the academic community.
Responsibilities
- Develop marketing programs focused on growing Benchling’s academic user base -- from online symposia and conferences to digital user acquisition to our university ambassador program.
- Create content and run campaigns to increase product adoption and retention of academic users.
- Collaborate with the customer experience team to establish a training and certification program for academic researchers.
- Set up a Benchling advocates program to cultivate super users and create compelling user stories.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive the growth and engagement of our academic user base.
- Broaden the scope of the academic program with new audiences such as high school students, educators, and academic-industry partnerships.
- Measure and report on the health and performance of Benchling’s academic program.
About You
- Degree in biology, life sciences, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 2-5 years experience working in a university setting that interfaces with academic researchers, faculty, and/or students.
- Experience in marketing, academic relations, or community-oriented programs a plus.
- Expert and personable communicator; loves talking about science education and speaking in front of audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Comfortable picking up new software/technologies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Independent self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
