Director of Technical Program Management
About the role
To support our rapid growth, we are looking for a Director of Technical Program Management in our San Francisco office. This is a strategic role as you will be building the foundation of program and portfolio management from the ground up. As the leader of technical program management at Chime, you will work with engineering leaders, product management teams, program management, and cross-functional teams to plan and deliver our ambitious portfolio roadmaps.
In this role, you can expect to
- Build an effective Technical Program function from the ground up
- Introduce and improve the best practices to enable product and technical roadmaps
- Partner with stakeholders to plan with clear alignment and accountability
- Effectively work with leaders in product, engineering, and with 3rd party technology partners to create alignment on strategies, roadmaps and portfolio trade offs
- Lead teams to ensure execution commitments
- As needed, hands on manage strategic programs with internal and external partners
- Create and lead effective communication cadences across development teams, stakeholders and with executive teams
- Build and iterate on various processes with leaders and teams to drive alignment, build teams and engineering culture, simplify execution, and improve quality and efficiency
- Identify and optimize tooling for product development efficiency
- As a key member of the technical leadership team, contribute to building a world class technology organization
To thrive in this role, you have
- Demonstrated experiences in building strong teams and leading technical programs
- Scaled a technical program management organization in the past, at a fast growing company with at least 100’s of engineers
- Deep knowledge of portfolio planning and management in dynamic organizations
- 5+ years of people management experience
- A strong ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management
- The ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment
- Demonstrated a strong sense of ownership
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills
- A deep understanding of agile software development processes (XP, scrum, Kanban, etc)
- The ability to drive the planning and execution of the technology roadmap and technology team’s goals and objectives
