RingCentral seeks a tech-savvy professional to serve as Export Control Compliance Officer on a quickly growing team. This self-motivated individual will be comfortable working in an exciting, high-growth, fast-paced, sales-driven culture and will be responsible for managing our globally expanding regulatory compliance and contractual obligations in our SaaS line of business. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success managing export compliance in a SaaS environment, an extensive knowledge in contracts & business management, and excellent communication skills.
As an integrated part of the team, you proactively assess legal and compliance risks, seek input from internal SMEs, and advise on the export control implications of our cutting-edge unified communications services.
Specifically, you will develop a deep understanding of our business, issue spot, implement, manage and execute our Export Control Compliance Program, provide leadership and direction in export control compliance, and build and foster a continuing program of training, education, and cooperation throughout our offices with regard to export control compliance. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of global legal issues related to export control, sanctions, import, customs, encryption requirements, and licensing, with support from internal SMEs.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain compliance with global export and import laws and regulations.
- Serve as a designated point of contact and resource for our company to regularly respond to requests for information, analysis of export compliance impact and review of contract provisions relating to export controls.
- Manage escalations from ongoing export control and sanctions due diligence screening and review of transactions.
- Work across multi-disciplines, including human resources, sales, procurement, senior management, and other enabling functions to act as a resource for information regarding global export control regulations, compliance, and risk assessment.
- Identify global export issues, develop solutions, and provide guidance to management on resolving issues to support business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Evaluate contract requirements and provide succinct opinions to management; and collaborate with legal and business teams to develop innovative business solutions.
- Conduct export control compliance audits.
- Interface with internal management and employees of all levels, as well as external partners.
- Use strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and have the ability to achieve high levels of internal stakeholder buy-in and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in International Studies, Trade Compliance, Business Administration, or other related field. A Masters and/or JD degree is a plus.
- 5-8 years of minimum relevant work experience implementing and managing export control compliance programs.
- High level of competency of global export regulations, including EAR and ITAR jurisdiction/classification.
- Experience in the SaaS industry.
- Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to professionally manage time, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as part of a team.
- Proven ability to spot problems and develop and lead the implementation of appropriate solutions.
