About the Role: 

Planet is seeking an Impact Project Manager to help uphold a growing portfolio of Global Impact Initiatives. These are programs that Planet undertakes with a wide variety of internal and external partners to ensure that our data, products and services achieve their highest humanitarian, climate and sustainable-development potential.


Programs that the Impact Project Manager will be involved in include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting robust ESG measurement and evaluation frameworks for global outcomes stemming from the use of Planet’s data, products and services in humanitarian and sustainable-development contexts.
  • Supporting the Time for Impact program, which coordinates in-kind collaborations between Planet, our employees and frontline humanitarian, human rights and environmental nonprofits
  • Supporting the Art @ Planet program, in which we work with emerging and leading artists around the world
  • Supporting the Planet Ethics Committee, which helps ensure that our data, products and services are used in ways that are consistent with our Public Code of Ethics
  • A variety of special research and development projects which serve to support our work on initiatives like the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Impact You'll Own: The role will sit on Planet’s strategy team and report to the Vice President of Global Impact Initiatives. You’ll work closely with a variety of Planet employees in technical and customer-facing roles, as well humanitarian and environmental activists, to accelerate some of the most impactful work we do. If you like a diverse array of projects, are excellent with details and follow-through, and have a passion for (and familiarity with) social and ecological systems change, you should consider applying.

What You Bring:

  • 3+ years experience working in humanitarian, human rights, sustainable development or related fields.
  • Very strong project management skills.
  • Strong quantitative, written and verbal communications skills.
  • A passion for social change, environmental stewardship, and humanitarian/human rights issues.
  • A familiarity with the opportunities – and pitfalls – of using new technologies to achieve lasting outcomes.
  • A strong learn-by-doing orientation, willing to roll up your sleeves and execute.
  • An agility to rapidly respond to new events/circumstances as they emerge.

  • GIS and Cartographic Skills
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting satellite imagery
  • An understanding of how nonprofits, NGOs, philanthropic and multilateral organizations think and work
