The Operations Strategic Project Leader will work with the VP of Operations to develop and drive strategic priorities and execution across the operations team and cross functionally. This role will require demonstrated leadership skills, an ability to partner and coordinate with different teams, strong communication skills and exceptional analytical ability. At a rapidly growing start up, there is always a lot to do-- you will partner with operational leaders to prioritize what is best for the business and execute accordingly! 

You will have a front row seat to growing the company that is solving the metabolic health epidemic, and your success will lead to potential future responsibility as an operating leader (General Manager, Operating leader, or functional VP).

Responsibilities

  • Manage strategy, prioritization and execution of strategic growth projects 
    • Analyze and track data to understand key growth levers and opportunities
    • Build business case for growth projects and influence team to resource and execute
    • Collaborate cross functionally across marketing, product development, operations and finance for execution 
    • Drive external contracting strategy (including analysis of key partnerships and contract negotiations) 
  • Own analysis and root cause problem solving for key metrics around outcomes, patient experience, cost, demand planning, and capacity 
  • Work with the team to improve effectiveness and efficiency of new processes and drive adoption
  • Be a leader, listening ear and objective partner to operations leaders as teams scale 
    • Understand the different needs and challenges of teammates and communicate that to operations leadership 
    • Help develop strong hiring, management and leadership practices 
  • Coordinate operational and cross functional leaders, including managing meeting agendas, analyses and follow ups 
  • Partner with executive leadership to understand operations needs and drive quarterly planning and tracking process 
  • Work with finance to track and manage operations team budget 
  • Contribute to Virta culture as an empathetic leader passionate about diabetes reversal and excited to work with a cross functional team

Requirements

  • Business acumen, structured problem solving and analytical skills to solve today’s and tomorrow’s business problems (experience with data visualization and analytical tools like Looker a plus)
  • Interpersonal skills and experience to develop effective relationships, work with anyone, and persuade others to work with you even without a formal reporting relationship 
  • Crisp written and verbal communication skills with the ability to take complex, ambiguous concepts and distill them into understandable narrative 
  • Strong project management skills to be able to drive multiple projects forward towards closure and impact 
  • Leadership presence and confidence to be able to meet with internal and external partners 
  • Some prior experience and understanding of the U.S. healthcare system to have enough context for rapid decision making 
  • Preferably a combination of “real functional experience” in product, operations or general management combined with management consulting 
  • Optimistic attitude; as most of your projects are unexpected and tough new challenges and opportunities, you must bring optimism and excitement to people you’re working with

Location

We are currently all working from home, but our office is close to the Ferry Building, Salesforce Park and Market Street, as well as Bart and Caltrain
