THE OPPORTUNITY

Over the last decade, we have built a world-class SaaS platform for event organizers, enabling millions of events globally. Last year alone, our platform processed over 150 million tickets across over 3 million events organized by our creators. As our platform continues to scale, we need to coordinate execution across our global teams to deliver against an aggressive and exciting roadmap. 

As the leader of Eventbrite’s technical program management team You will be responsible for identifying the stakeholders, working with leadership to develop a vision, roadmaps and execution strategies. You will handle complex inter-team dependencies and bridge the gaps in technical management. You will need to work with professionals in many different domains including finance, engineering, engineering management, product, marketing, sales and services. Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, be detail-oriented, have excellent problem solving and communication abilities, and possess a deep understanding of product design and implementation details. 

You will be a player/coach and will help establish a high performing Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process globally. You will lead the planning and execution for our most complex projects and lead other technical program managers on your team to drive their projects to success. You will help us deliver on our mission to bring the world together through live experiences.

 

THE ROLE

You are obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance engineering teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, and continuous process improvement. You’ll help establish technical standards and drive Eventbrite’s overall technical architecture and engineering practices. You’ll work on Eventbrite’s hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs. 

As a Principal Technical Program Manager you will:

Be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end 

Collect business and system requirements, write specifications, create project plans, manage program execution, and oversee production launches. 

Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints

Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions that demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment.

Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.

THE TECH STACK

Eventbrite is one of the world’s largest Django-powered sites by request volume. Python, Django, and MySQL are the primary off-the-shelf technologies in our stack. We are hosted on AWS. PySOA, our services framework, builds on these core technologies. Because this team interfaces with many other teams, there’s potential to work with a variety of other backend technologies in our stack, including Redis, Kafka, and ElasticSearch to name a few.

THE SKILL SET

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in Technical Program and/or Product Management or leading software development projects with aggressive schedules.
  • Proficient knowledge of Project/Program Management principles and processes.
  • 5+ years experience working with cross functional technical teams and business units to design, develop, and implement new systems or solutions.
  • Familiarity with agile or other program management methodologies.
  • Experience leading development life cycle process and best practices
  • Willingness to work with a distributed team across several neighboring timezones.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired

BONUS POINTS

  • You have experience in a marketplace or consumer industry.
  • Experience with at least one cloud computing platform. Preferably AWS.
  • Prior experience as a Software Development Engineer
  • Experience with cross geographical project coordination and management.
