A successful team member of skilled professionals with experience in operations. As multidimensional specialists with proven abilities in change management, assisting in the development and supplier management activities, negotiations, pricing and bid evaluations/awards, logistic coordination, invoicing interpretation and resolution, coordinating and overseeing e-procurement systems, processes and compliance education.

You will

  • Develop collaborative relationships with vital departments; Lab Operations, Clinical Development, Sales & Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, Quality, and Finance to ensure fiduciary responsibility and to provide additional support to the researcher community with emphasis on streamlining processes and projects
  • Collaborate with Quality to perform external audits
  • Work with future Finance IT and related resources to optimize data integrity and develop new reporting tools as required
  • Lead key departmental projects by developing and utilizing in-depth knowledge of business processes and systems as well as project management skills
  • Align activities, goals and objectives with the strategic goals and key priorities identified by Procurement Department
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators based on cost savings, inventory reductions, customer service, risk mitigation, productivity improvements, and demonstration of corporate values
  • Lead the Partner team deliverables, scope, timelines, resources on project activities so the program remains within budget, on schedule, and within scope and identified and analyzed project risks; guided teams to develop appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Assist in the development of Procurement departmental SOPs and Policies that involve and impact key internal and external partners
  • Regularly update management, team members, and partners on project status, key decisions, issues, and results
  • Provide cross functional coordination across GRAIL's global operations and often external resources including suppliers, consultants, or other partners in the management of assigned projects
  • Provide support to short term interests that may arise from time to time due to unexpected circumstances (e.g. problem with a supplier, logistical issue, or other system or process failure)
  • Execute as a significant individual contributor to the project and / or lead others through project plans
  • Assist the Director in establishing, managing, and reporting financial budgets as they relate to Procurement spend activity across the company
  • Facilitate the use of project management tools to achieve a balanced, data driven and risk-based decision making process; supervise critical path and team activities
  • Collaborate with Operations and R&D to channel spending toward preferred suppliers; vendor/strategic supplier sourcing and management; negotiation and execution of SOWs

Your background should include:

  • 10+ years experience in a comparable procurement role
  • Experience purchasing for a fast-growing biotech or scientific lab environment
  • Has Clinical Experience (Clinical Studies, Site management, Invoice Reconciliation, Study Budgeting)
  • Experience with strategic sourcing and negotiations
  • Familiarity with Source-to-Pay process management (i.e. Indirect Spend)
  • Strong Project Management background
  • Ability to work cross functionally within various departments to address needs and requirements
  • Knowledge of the various shipping options, carriers and alternate methods such as drop shipping
  • Experience with software-based purchasing systems
  • Experience with an ERP and Finance related systems, i.e. NetSuite, Coupa, Concur, SAP
  • Experience working with Accounts Payable and Finance departments to resolve invoicing and payment discrepancies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated skills in problem identification, analysis, and resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to assess needs, and ability to assist in training inter-departmental co-workers on systems and software
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn new applications
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a collaborative or team setting
