Program Manager, Confluence (Mountain View or Remote)
Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. All new and existing Atlassians will continue to work from home until it’s safe to return to our offices. When our offices re-open, we will provide the choice to work from home or return to work in an office unless a job requirement makes it necessary for a particular role to be performed at an Atlassian office.
Confluence transforms how teams everywhere work by getting everyone on the same page. As a Program Manager on the Confluence team, you will directly impact this mission by partnering closely with our leadership teams to bring our strategies to life - driving and executing on key top priority programs that span multiple teams.
In this role, you will understand the 'why' behind strategic plans and help Confluence teams understand their alignment to the bigger picture and coordinate work to execute on them. You will guide reporting mechanisms, craft communications for various audiences (including executives), set processes for cross team projects, and/or jump into a team to help connect and unblock teams. You are a center of team spirit, and you craft and implement pathways to up-level the team.
Confluence’s success is instrumental for Atlassian to hit its business goals and OKRs and you will have a direct hand in this. Does this sound exciting to you? Then you might be the person we're looking for.
In this role, you'll get to:
- Ensure the Confluence leadership teams are planning, setting the right goals, and executing on those goals effectively with good tracking and reporting methods.
- Champion and cultivate cross-team relationships to coordinate and manage dependencies.
- Run and report on key strategic projects (ranging from technical delivery and analytical deep dives to operational efficiencies).
- Be a trusted partner to R&D practices across product, engineering, and design to facilitate prioritization and trade-offs.
- Apply healthy project management methodologies to projects across Confluence, focusing on partner engagement, dependency management and risk & issue management.
- Coordinate work “on the team” such as team health exercises, decision-making plays, and org size/shape assessment. Lead strategic off-sites and associated planning rituals.
About you:
- You are an excellent collaborator and communicator that can expertly inspire change across teams.
- You have a track record of setting appropriate expectations, crisp execution, and timely delivery.
- You are familiar with Agile methodologies and are able to draw upon best practices, patterns and agile frameworks to build pathways for autonomous, empowered, and lasting teams for a Future Atlassian.
- You thrive in ambiguous, complex, challenging and/or changing environments.
- You are able to prioritize and ask the right questions.
- You are attentive to detail and meticulously organized.
- You know when to run with something on your own and when to bring in additional help.
- You promote a healthy decision making culture and identify when it is appropriate to escalate.
- You are able to effectively and collaboratively identify and synchronize project interdependencies across multiple teams, and navigate risks and change along the way.
- You have the ability to balance priorities among the long-term vision and short-term execution strategy.
- You’re a coach, a facilitator and a multiplier, passionate about software product teams, with a focus on teamwork and how we can work better together.
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience working with product, engineering, design and related functions.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- You fully understand the software development lifecycle and ensure teams are driving toward delivery of high quality, operationally sound products and services.
It's great, but not required if you have:
- Experience working on programs with web and mobile applications, microservices and relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience working with remote, global, and cross-functional teams and matrix organizations, and an understanding of SaaS business models and enterprise sales.
