About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned program manager to bridge the gap between operations, analytics, and product teams in order to better leverage billions of data points to further Chime’s development of machine learning. You’ll partner closely with many cross-functional teams to tackle Chime’s most challenging problems, including fraud detection and mitigation, credit risk assessment, and automating delightful customer experiences, just to name a few.
The right candidate knows what steps and people are required to drive a machine learning project, how to coax work streams to completion when many teams are involved and how to keep on track of large programs, ranging from data hygiene and flows to machine learning based decisioning systems across Chime.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive delivery of multiple large cross-functional initiatives across multiple internal and external partners
- Translate business and product requirements into comprehensive product/process development stories
- Build relationships by collaborating with Engineering, Product counterparts, and other major internal stakeholders, enabling ML and DS teams to absorb domain knowledge from relevant teams
- Ensure timely execution of all project assets to meet launch dates, and help support analytics and hind-sighting post-launch
- Communicate strategic milestones and due dates to all stakeholders, ensuring information is available and complete, including to executive stakeholders
- Ensure base data is planned to be built for all relevant problems, coordinating with Core Data team to architect flows correctly
- Build data visualizations to broadly communicate progress on program and key business metrics
- Evangelize the use of data and machine learning to all parts of the organization and act as a resource to answer stakeholder questions about ML
Requirements
- 2-3 years of risk/fraud/security domain knowledge
- 3+ years as a program/project manager
- Knowledge of the flow of a data science project, including conceptualization, validation, architecting a cross functional team, and executing on deliverables, among other areas
- Ability to cross-functionally influence data scientists, business analysts and data engineers; solid understanding of agile release processes is a plus
- SQL knowledge and a willingness/desire to enhance this skill
- Ability to track large enterprise-wide programs consisting of many projects; proficiency with process management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Willingness to learn machine learning metrics and how to spot a feasible ML project while not knowing ML in depth
- Excitement to thrive in the ambiguity that comes with data science projects
- Ability to communicate to stakeholders and executives and report on ML projects
