Position description:

Calico is seeking an exceptional Program Team Leader (PTL) to provide vision and leadership to research and development stage programs. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for developing compounds as they transition from target identification to IND filing and early development through clinical Proof of Concept. The PTL will be expected to partner with key stakeholders to define the vision and drug discovery and development strategy for the program and to provide experienced leadership and direction to the cross-functional team. Additionally, the PTL will be responsible for interacting with Calico’s partners, including AbbVie, to coordinate all scientific activities and manage the project’s expenses. The PTL will be expected to drive both strategic and operational decisions, through a deep understanding of the target biology, candidate optimization, use of translational disease models to evaluate therapeutic indication selection and clinical development.

Position requirements:

Applicants must have an Ph.D. in a Biological Science and/or an M.D. plus Post-Doc and a successful track record of leading program teams from target validation into early clinical development. She or he should have at least 10 years of industry experience in drug development, preferably in both non-clinical and early clinical drug development. The ideal candidate should have exceptional decision-making and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a proven ability to promote collaborations.
