Regional Community Affairs Organizer (Western)

Instacart’s Policy & Government Affairs department advocates for public policy outcomes that support the long-term growth of our business. We build trust with government policymakers, helping them understand our business and its positive impact on their communities. We help to shape complex, cutting-edge public policy debates that will define the future of work and e-commerce. We engage a diverse coalition of stakeholders and communities to build effective advocacy campaigns that advance our public policy goals. We help the company see around corners to anticipate and adjust to rapidly evolving political and regulatory landscapes.
Reporting to the Community Affairs Manager, the Community Affairs Organizer will work to support and promote Instacart’s policy initiatives across North America. Organizers will help create and implement stakeholder mobilization and engagement strategies, support public outreach in local communities and build strong relationships with the Instacart shopper community and a wide range of groups and organizations.
We are hiring for this position in the following locations: New York City, Chicago and San Francisco.
ABOUT THE JOB
- Work with Instacart Regional Policy Managers and other internal teams to develop a localized community engagement strategy and plan that will support Instacart’s legislative initiatives at the local, state, and federal level
- Build strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including Instacart shoppers, local non-profits, community organizations, and business and trade associations
- Create and implement scalable strategies and tactics for community affairs engagement and mobilization efforts across the region
- Plan and host policy events such as community meetings, appreciation events, outreach sessions, meetups and other events on behalf of Instacart
- Recruit and build Instacart stakeholder advocates, including list management, tracking and development
ABOUT YOU
- 2+ years experience in field operations, event management, or community organizing for political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or technology companies
- Experience recruiting and managing volunteers and community advocates
- Familiarity with best-in-class organizing tools, tactics, and strategies including digital organizing
- Track record of producing successful public events from concept to execution
- Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communications skills
- Can balance long and short-term priorities to deliver results
- Resourceful and entrepreneurial with a bias towards action
- Passionate commitment to finding meaningful ways to build community with individuals and organizations
