Senior Security Program Manager

At Fastly, Security is a core business function. Core business functions need sound management in order to be effective. We’re looking for a Security Program Manager to organize, structure, and drive the delivery of our internal security programs. As a senior leader within the security team, you will have responsibility for driving the creation of our strategic plans, coordinating delivery, communicating cross-functionally on our programs, and building and maintaining budgets. You will also have direct responsibility for nurturing the overall culture of security here at Fastly.

You are a leader and facilitator at Fastly. You will be supported by a friendly security team and work with peers across the company to amplify your impact. We check our egos at the door and support each other in the constant work of making our applications, our infrastructure and the internet a better place. You will also be held accountable for streamlining processes and de-risking projects by working with your counterparts on other teams and ensuring the Security teams are firing on all cylinders. You are essential to our success! You’ll make sure our customers benefit from a service built to the highest security standards in the industry. We pride ourselves in our involvement in the larger security community and encourage our team to present at network and security conferences and participate in the open source community. We are a distributed security team with the commitment and tools in place to make it work.

What You'll Do

  • Manage our security program planning processes
  • Detail and document our overall security plan in a consumable format
  • Identify both internal and external security partners, engaging with them on a regular cadence
  • Keep the team, leadership, and our partners in the loop on execution of our plans
  • Collaboratively map security control goals to actual and potential security capabilities (reconcile aspirational guidance with reality)
  • Ensure our security controls are operating correctly
  • Cultivate a rich security culture through behavioral guidance and empowerment
  • Make sure everyone understands their security responsibilities
  • Provide relevant, targeted, useful and engaging security education for all employees
  • Build and maintain our departmental budget, being mindful of current and future spend
  • Establish critical metrics for our security vendors and ensure they are held accountable for quality delivery
  • Help elevate our brand in security communities by coordinating blog posts, presentations, and release of tools built by our team

  • We have a huge impact. Fastly is a small company with a big reach. Not only do our customers have a tremendous user base, but we also support a growing number of open source projects and initiatives. Outside of code, employees are encouraged to share causes close to their heart with others so we can help lend a supportive hand.
  • We love distributed teams. Fastly’s home-base is in San Francisco, but we have multiple offices and employees sprinkled around the globe. In fact, 50% of our employees work outside of SF! An international remote culture is in our DNA.
  • We care about you. Fastly works hard to create a positive environment for our employees, and we think your life outside of work is important too. We support our teams with great benefits like up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave, options for free medical/dental/vision plans, and an open vacation program that enables our folks to take the time they need to recharge (some benefits may vary by location).
  • We value diversity. Growing and maintaining our inclusive and diverse team matters to us. We are committed to being a company where our employees feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work and have the ability to be successful -- every day.
  • We are passionate. Fastly is chock full of passionate people and we’re not ‘one size fits all’. Fastly employs authors, pilots, skiers, parents (of humans and animals), makeup geeks, coffee connoisseurs, and more. We love employees for who they are and what they are passionate about.

We’re always looking for humble, sharp, and creative folks to join the Fastly team. If you think you might be a fit please apply!
