At Segment, we believe companies should be able to send their data wherever they want, whenever they want, with no fuss. Unfortunately, most product managers, analysts, and marketers spend too much time searching for the data they need, while engineers are stuck integrating the tools they want to use. Segment standardizes and streamlines data infrastructure with a single platform that collects, unifies, and sends data to hundreds of business tools with the flip of a switch. That way, our customers can focus on building amazing products and personalized messages for their customers, letting us take care of the complexities of processing their customer data reliably at scale. We’re in the running to power the entire customer data ecosystem, and we need the best people to take the market.

Segment is growing rapidly and seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) who is passionate about drastically improving technical-security operations and engineering efficiencies. If this person is you, it means you will lead security-related technical and operational programs, while collaborating with other engineering teams that are impacted by these programs. This is a high-impact role within R&D and you, alongside the Security Team, will be directly responsible for raising the overall security posture of Segment!

In this role you will:

  • Lead and manage the successful delivery of high-impact and highly cross-functional security-program initiatives, including helping to move long-standing security practices to the next levels of evolution, seldom accomplished by other companies
  • Drive cross-functional planning, by closely partnering with Security GMs and Leads to develop program plans, including identifying dependencies and resource requirements to eliminate surprises on complex projects. This leads to successful projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product and other organizations to evolve, instill and measure secure product-development processes, so that we collectively make fewer mistakes over time
  • Contribute to the definition, development and tracking of effective security metrics and R&D operational improvements. This is so we can challenge our beliefs and outcomes with data, in order to continuously improve them.
  • Establish and drive adoption of program frameworks, tools and best practices, so that we can continue anticipating our customers’ needs over time.

What we are looking for:

  • 2+ years experience in a technical program management or operational role
  • Passion for improving security, and for learning more about it every year
  • Demonstrate complete ownership, taking pride and responsibility for the successful completion of projects, as we celebrate the “100% done” philosophy!
  • Ability to build strong relationships, collaborate and communicate effectively across a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in an exciting environment.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies

Bonus points:

  • BA/BS degree in engineering, computer science or similar degree
  • Experience with SaaS companies

You have an opportunity to deliver top priority programs for Segment, and directly impact improvements in security, efficiency, and reliability. You will partner with some of the best and brightest individuals in the Security Community to continuously improve the quality of our products, while improving our engineering security and efficiency.

We encourage you to apply if this role excites you - even if you think you may not meet all of the qualifications. At Segment, we live by four values: karma, drive, tribe, and focus. We are always looking for outstanding individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives who embody these values.
