The Quizlet Trust & Safety team helps students and teachers use our products successfully and works to encourage a user-centered culture at Quizlet by advising teams and promoting best practices across crucial areas such as privacy, data protection, user safety, academic integrity, and more. This team provides the critical tools and process to support different business units to embed safety-by-design as a core tenants in their business operations and product development processes. As a Trust & Safety Operations Specialist, you will use your expertise to decrease risks across core Trust & Safety policy areas, develop ways to improve business processes and systems, and to give us the ability to measure and track progress across Quizlet. In this role, you will interact with product, engineering, business and legal teams to develop deep insights into the mechanics of how teams incorporate safety-by-design principles into business operations and product lifecycles.

You will also support core operational procedures in coordination with the Quizlet User Support team, including direct user support (via email) on topics related to Trust & Safety, as well as content moderation and other compliance-related tasks. All of these activities come together to promote user safety and positive user experiences on Quizlet while maintaining compliance with both external and internal standards. This role will report to the Head of Trust & Safety. The Support Operations Lead will play a central role in executing to meet the demands we face today while also building scalable solutions to address future needs. Data-driven decision making and planning are essential, along with the capacity to use good judgment and precedent to ensure our program meets internal standards and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and management of Quizlet’s internal Trust & Safety policy and procedural controls
  • Identify, plan, and manage projects related to ongoing compliance with Quizlet’s global legal and regulatory obligations
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and ensure user trust is not compromised
  • Support the development and deployment of pieces of training that highlight Trust & Safety obligations, Quizlet’s principles, and industry best practices
  • Triage product features and business processes for potential issues
  • Communicate Trust & Safety organization decisions and recommendations to the broader cross-functional teams
  • Align practical risk mitigation with business objectives and foster a risk-conscious corporate culture
  • Taking an entrepreneurial approach to the role, working collaboratively across Quizlet to resolve Trust & Safety issues and get the job done
  • Coordinate certification program processes with external third-parties
  • Partner with User Support specialists to resolve inbound user support inquiries related to Trust & Safety issues
  • Demonstrate exceptional judgment and discretion

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Past experience building subject matter expertise in a function, ideally within privacy, data protection, safety, or trust-related area in a consumer product environment
  • Experience working within a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrated success with enhancing processes with a bias for efficiency
  • A mindset and skillset for recognizing and mitigating risk
  • Proven ability to be adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Capacity to be self-directed, with a knack for solving problems and getting things done
  • Comfortable with and discrete about sensitive material
  • Able to accommodate some travel to domestic and international destinations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience
  • Experience in program management or legal, regulatory, privacy, or similar functions
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations or digital information governance
  • PMP or CIPP certification preferred
