About Persona
Persona is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder — but more important — than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly.

We’ve built Persona to support practically every use case and industry — that’s why we’re able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Coursera uses Persona to ensure the right person is earning each degree. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world’s most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live.

We believe that making the internet safer and more human requires a team that reflects the diverse, global nature of the people we aim to serve. We’re growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us.

About the Role
The Accounting team serves as the central hub for financial reporting, customer & vendor transactions, employee expenses, and supports the payroll process, as well as a wide range of special projects at Persona. Our team is building an audit-ready accounting function, so you will help improve cashflow, make processes more efficient for employees and external stakeholders, and ensure an effective accounting function that can support Persona’s rapid growth.

While spreadsheets, reconciliations, and financial statements are core parts of what we do, we take personal ownership over the operating side of our work too – there’s no better way to understand our company than to take an active role in building it. As such, you’ll be supporting the Accounting team as we build out processes and procedures that will support Persona as it continues to grow and its reporting requirements become increasingly complex. You’ll work closely with our Finance and Monetization partners, customers, Engineering, and the GTM organization on key initiatives to help build Persona.

What you'll do at Persona

  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606, including technical memo writing, review of contracts, booking of necessary journal entries, and suggesting improvements to order-to-cash process to support ASC 606 compliance
  • Support other members of the Accounting team with customer invoicing cycle
  • Support month end close by maintaining and reconciling key revenue related balance sheet items such as deferred revenue and capitalized contract costs, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Partner closely with the Engineering team and Finance and Monetization team to drive improvements to billing process
  • Participate in sales tax review and filing, monitor customer sales tax setup
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to ensure the accounting function is audit-ready

What you'll bring to Persona

  • 3+ years of accounting and/or audit experience required, preferably with focus in SaaS or usage-based revenue companies
  • Experience implementing the requirements of ASC 606 is required, with at minimum basic knowledge of other US GAAP standards
  • Experience working in highly cross-functional environments and demonstrated success working collaboratively across teams
  • Proficient with accounting software (QBO, Netsuite), as well as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and respond to requests efficiently and effectively
  • Detail-oriented and data-driven, with the ability to handle and reconcile high volumes of customer data
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a drive to implement change

Compensation & equity
This salary range is the estimated base salary range. Please note, the salary range is a guideline based on market data for roles located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and may vary depending on location. Salary ranges are subject to change without notice.

Persona offers a wide range of thoughtful and inclusive benefits for this role, including medical, dental, and vision, 3% 401(k) contribution, unlimited PTO, quarterly mental health days, family planning benefits, professional development stipends, wellness benefits, unlimited paid time off, among others. While we believe competitive compensation and benefits are a critical aspect of you deciding to join us, we do hope you consider why our core values and culture are right for you.
