ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIPS AND LOYALTY TEAM

The Partnerships & Loyalty Team is part of Varo’s Product organization and an important contributor to customer and revenue growth. The team is responsible for 3 areas. 1) Build a network of partners that offer products and services compelling to Varo’s existing customers, generating cross-sell revenue and increased customer engagement. 2) Drive customer growth by partnering with companies that can offer Varo to their customer base. 3) Design and manage loyalty initiatives & programs to drive customer engagement and share of wallet.


ABOUT THE ROLE

You will report to the GM of Partnerships & Loyalty and play a critical role in driving revenue and customer growth for Varo. 


You will be responsible for building and managing two different types of partnerships. The first type will be with companies that can provide compelling products or offers to Varo’s existing customers. The second type will be with companies that represent distribution opportunities to drive customer growth for Varo.


You will conduct strategic analysis of industry verticals and companies to develop a prioritized pipeline of partnership opportunities. You will prepare presentations and sales pitches, build relationships with prioritized companies and negotiate partnership constructs. You will also be responsible for onboarding partners working alongside our Legal, Risk Management and Marketing teams.


In addition to growing the base of partners, you will be responsible for managing and growing select relationships by continuously optimizing performance working alongside the product, design, analytics, marketing, growth teams. This will include working with partners and internal teams to explore optimization initiatives such as new product features associated with the partnership, deeper integration with partners, introducing and testing alternative marketing channels and messaging.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Utilize customer analytics, competitive analysis and industry trends to identify new partnership opportunities and to optimize existing ones.
  • Leverage and expand your network to identify, negotiate and build valuable partnerships. 
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and sales pitches that are compelling and convey the value Varo can create for partners and their customers
  • Work closely with partner and internal teams to onboard and grow these partnerships.
  • Minimal travel will be required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES THAT'LL HELP YOU BE GREAT

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business development, partnerships or account management. Fast learner, content driven.
  • Ability to translate big-picture thinking into a tangible partnership strategy. 
  • Methodical and detailed oriented, with superb tactical execution skills.
  • Analytical, able to analyze partnership performance and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven track record preparing and delivering effective presentations to external audiences
  • Self-starter, resilient and always looking to overcome obstacles through creative problem solving
  • BA/BS required; MBA a plus

  • Background in management consulting, investment banking or venture capital
  • Experience managing a team
  • Proven track record in BD or account management in fintech
