What we are looking for:

  • You are a strategic thinker that has an eye for identifying the right opportunities for the business
  • You have experience shaping and operationalizing such partnerships at other companies in a high growth environment
  • You have experience successfully negotiating deal terms and closing contracts
  • You are entrepreneurial and excited to roll up your sleeves and partner with Marketing, Content, Product and Engineering teams to bring these partnerships to life
  • You are data driven and passionate about learning from our users and partners to drive decisions

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Identifying prospective partnership and business development opportunities for MasterClass to accelerate growth and reach more members
  • Negotiating terms and closing contracts for business development deals and strategic partnerships
  • Working across product, marketing, content to define execute business development strategy and priorities

Requirements:

  • Available to travel up to 25% of time
  •  7+ years of management and leadership experience across business development and strategic partnerships, including a demonstrated track record of success (having done this in a high growth start up environment is not necessary but is a plus!)
  • A good understanding of technical requirements, technology platforms required for digital partnership integrations
  • Experience with understanding simple and complex partnership deals and structuring and negotiating contracts in partnership with legal teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both external partner management as well as stakeholder management internally
  • Ability to think strategically with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and execute / operationalize the plan in collaboration with other teams
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required
  • A passion for the mission of MasterClass

MasterClass is located in the SOMA district of San Francsico. We are located between 3rd and 4th street with tons of public transportation nearby.
