Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager at Carrot Fertility will be responsible for working with health industry brokers and consultants in the benefits space who are acting as advisors to employers on the employer’s benefits strategy.
The Business Development Manager will own a book of business of relationships with specific brokerage & consulting firms to educate these firms about the value of the Carrot solution. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing revenue that is generated through our work & partnership with the broker/consultant channel, who are important influencers in employers’ benefits design & strategy.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
- Nurture long term, trusting relationships with partners, that drive bookings performance, product adoption, and joint business success
- Continuously train broker/consultant partners on the Carrot solution
- Proactively develop a deep understanding of the key players and industry dynamics in the employee health benefits landscape
- Support the Business initiatives of your assigned partner territory, and identify opportunities for sales and performance improvement
- Hit quarterly sales targets for named broker/consultant relationships
- Represent Carrot at industry events
- Serve as jack-of-all-trades, to get things done, when needed
- EducateSales, Customer Success and Operations teams on partner engagement, to ease the buying cycle, engender loyalty, and increase future referral opportunities
- Show a high degree of comfort advising internal senior stakeholders and executives and influence product development, driven by the insight gained from partner relationships
Expertise, Skills & Requirements:
The Business Development Manager will need to be an excellent communicator and have excellent presentation skills. They must be active listeners who take the time to comprehend what others say and then use the information they learn to build lasting relationships. They have to be socially perceptive and aware of nonverbal cues to feel out how a negotiation is going, and be able to adjust accordingly. The Business Development Managers needs to be innovative in their quest to help their broker/consultant partners effectively sell their product. In addition to these skills and personality traits, Carrot is looking for Business Development Manager candidates with the following skills and abilities:
- Craft and implement channel sales strategies to meet quarterly sales targets
- Ability to use leadership and sales acumen to train and develop broker/consultant partners
- Ability to collaborate with key teams at Carrot Fertility including Sales, Customer Success, Marketing and Product
- Ability to work with both internal and external partners by providing relevant insights based on consultant feedback
- High level of comfort in presenting/public speaking; confidence in leading through influence
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills; high degree of emotional intelligence
- Comfortable with structuring quantitative analysis to develop data driven decisions to grow partnerships, identify new areas of opportunity and demonstrate the business impact of our partnerships to internal and external stakeholders
- Creative and innovative thinking, with strong self-discipline and time management skills
- Ability to understand complex health benefits compliance and speak to stakeholders on how Carrot positions against a competitive landscape
- Exceptional communicator. Excellent in synthesizing executive level communication via presentations, strategy documents and other formats
- Must be able to travel as needed (post-covid)
Qualifications
- Experience as an HR/ Health Benefits Consultant required
- 4+ years in a customer facing role
- Experience meeting and exceeding sales quota
- Experience managing projects and strategic initiatives
- Experience managing customer relationships
- Experience developing content for external and internal meetings
- Experience working under deadlines and producing key deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Bachelor's degree required
