Position Summary

The mission of the Cyber Software Engineer is to scope, develop, and support field-built technical integrations between Expanse products, commercial 3rd party products, and customer bespoke tools in our customers’ environments. The scope of the role encompasses integration development for all integrations that are not built by Expanse engineering or development contractors.

The Cyber Software Engineer will develop integrations leveraging standard software tools and best practices in Python, Java, SQL, and potentially various shell and scripting languages. Experience with REST API integration is required, and familiarity with front-end web development is highly desired. Familiarity with software source code control is required. Interest in security and IT processes is required.

On a day-to-day basis, the Cyber Software Engineer will spend significant time implementing integrations based on technical requirements outlined by the post-sales architect, as well as developing appropriate technical implementation and support documentation. This role will also review 3rd party technical documentation, and will provide design and implementation input regarding the technical approach to product integration. 

The role can be based in any one of our offices - ATL, DC, NYC or SF. There will be some travel between the Cyber Software Engineer’s home office and customer sites within the continental US, though this should be less than 25%.

What You’ll Do

  • Scope and develop v1 integrations of Expanse data into security products.
  • Deliver integrations, including customer-facing support for install and confirmation of value.
  • Support sales by mapping out new networks and generating pitch decks.
  • Develop new internal tools to derive insights from Expanse’s vast understanding of Internet connected devices.
  • Collaborate with internal Data Science, Engineering, and Cyber Risk teams to support sales engagements and integrations.
  • Advise customers on best practices for integrating security products and data.

About You

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a software development or integration role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, information systems, engineering, or other analytical / technical discipline.
  • Experience developing in Python is required. Experience developing solutions with the use of APIs, connecting applications, etc. is highly desired.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to distill technical findings into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems, and work collaboratively within a team (both in-office and remote).
  • Knowledge of security technology is a plus, but not required.
  • Scripting / programming experience - Intermediate proficiency. 
  • Python - intermediate to expert level proficiency.
  • Javascript - intermediate proficiency.
  • Java - basic proficiency.
  • SQL - basic proficiency.
