Vicarious aims to transform robotics by creating robots with human level performance on real-world manipulation tasks. We are passionate about changing the world with science and software, and we are looking for exceptional people to join us in that mission.

At Vicarious, we are embedding AI with robotics and are growing quickly across all teams. To meet the demands of our increasing base of customers, the Deployment Operations team is looking to hire an NPI (New Product Introduction) Buyer to spearhead best-in-class processes for procurement, materials planning, and inventory management. This person will work closely with our engineering teams to procure essential hardware and components needed to build our intelligent systems, as well as with the Production team to plan for materials consumption. This is an opportunity to have significant ownership in procurement activity and materials planning for both prototype builds and finished goods.

What you'll do

  • Issue purchase orders for various components and services
  • Process risk buys for NPI and unreleased buys
  • Ensure incoming materials and components are properly routed based on their use case
  • Work on NPI projects, research partner companies, and seek to negotiate best price contracts
  • Prepare and analyze pricing data regarding “what if” scenarios to determine downstream inventory and cost impact
  • Drive the master scheduling
  • Assess supply chain risks including financial health and capacity assessments
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in addressing all aspects of material management in addition to procurement; in specific project support, pricing, and material availability
  • End of life planning to minimize exposure due to obsolete parts
  • Partner with Supply Chain to develop new supply sources in cases where suppliers are no longer competitive
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers while promoting company initiatives and value
  • Identify risk, create mitigation plans to address, and escalate as needed
  • All other duties as required or assigned

Who you are

  • Have 6+ years of supply chain experience in robotics, manufacturing, or a related field
  • Earned a Bachelor's degree, or have equivalent work experience
  • Able to lead, train, and mentor employees individually or as a team
  • Experienced with MRP and ERP systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communicator
  • Experience selecting, implementing, and using ERP systems is a plus
  • APICS, NAPM/ISM training and/or certification is a plus
