The Director/Senior Director, Business Development will own new partner management, outreach and existing partner up-sells and renewals. This is a highly visible role in a growing department. Primarily responsibilities include identifying partnership needs, sourcing companies to partner with, identifying contacts at those companies, negotiating partnership terms, managing contracting cycles, and closing partnership deals.

The Director/Senior Director, Business Development reports to the VP of Marketing, but will work cross-functionally across the organization. They will work especially close with the Director of Partner Marketing to determine partnership marketing services, the Legal & Finance teams, to engage on contract negotiations with partners, the Verticals team to identify new partnership needs, and the Product team, to identify potential partnership product integrations.

YOU WILL:

  • Lead deal execution for partnerships, including performing industry and company research, analyzing company impact, building financial models and performing due diligence.
  • Source, generate and seek potential new opportunities and partners which are aligned with Indiegogo business. Develop and manage relationships with potential clients and key stakeholders
  • Evaluating new opportunities to ensure resources focus on the best opportunities
  • Understand and effectively communicate Indiegogo’s value proposition and partnerships as they relate to the growth of current and prospective clients
  • Identify and prioritize key strategic opportunities and conduct partner analyses to determine best path to fulfill those strategic objectives.
  • Implement strategic project/growth plan to successfully fulfill goals of ESP partnerships
  • Define the scope of new business and go-to market strategy with clients
  • Work across the organization to identify, evaluate and execute partnerships.
  • Work with Partnership Marketing (as well as other Marketing and Design teams) to produce content, events, and other Partnership items
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with potential strategic partners.
  • Develop business plans and financial analyses that justify the ROI of various investments and business partnerships.
  • Serve as primary contact for clients to provide strategic consultations and project management
  • Foster strong, interpersonal client relationships to ensure strong, long-lasting partnerships
  • Communicate clearly the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to stakeholders
  • Develop and achieve monthly/quarterly goals and growth targets. Help direct reports achieve these goals and meet targets through effective communication and management
  • Create/utilize internal systems to analyze and track towards data-driven goals
  • Lead, coach, motivate and mentor direct reports
  • Attend events and public speaking engagements as needed

ABOUT YOU:

  • 7-10 years of professional experience
  • 5+ years of Sales or Business Development experience
  • Proven record setting contract terms, negotiating a term sheet, and closing deals 
  • Ability to perform cold outreach and develop warm leads
  • Experience managing long-term relationships with external parties
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholder expectations
  • People management experience 
  • Experience communicating upwards (to senior leadership)
