About the team:

The Business Development team within LG Technology Ventures is responsible in creating synergies between innovative startups and LG affiliate companies.  As a member of the LGTV Business Development team, you will work collaboratively across various internal functions (i.e., Open Innovation, R&D, New Business teams) and external networks (i.e., startup companies and venture capital firms) to identify and evaluate strategic investment opportunities globally and help portfolio companies grow through strategic partnership with LG.

You will introduce innovative startup companies to the right audience within LG, provide insight on their technology and business model of the startups, and suggest strategic relationships that could be developed. You understand LG’s open innovation needs, and harness them to enable deal teams to effectively formulate their strategic investing approach. With an air of humility, you bring strong strategic thinking, technology insight, and sound business judgment, along with the ability to think about what is - and what could be.

The Business Development team guarantees LGTV’s worldwide growth by identifying the appropriate strategic investments - and then working to make them happen. Consisting of experienced open innovation professionals and integration experts, we're dedicated to identifying the business opportunities of tomorrow. We find and evaluate investment opportunities across existing and future markets, influence management team decisions, assist investment thesis formulation, and help manage post-investment collaboration.

About the opportunity:

  • Structure complex problems, gather and analyze massive amounts of information expeditiously, and deliver insights and recommendations to LGTV executive teams.
    • Understand and stay current on various regional markets, industry trends, competitive landscape, and internal product development efforts; leverage this knowledge to help educate open innovation teams and evaluate deal opportunities.
    • Identify and engage potential investment opportunities via personal and event networking, technology meet-ups, cold outreach and industry research. Build connections with investors and start-up ecosystems and industry experts.
    • Build consensus among cross-functional teams, influence decision making within senior-level audiences, and drive management team decisions.

Required experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
    • 12+ years of experience with LG with 7+ years in open innovation, technology-focused corporate strategy function, corporate development, or new business planning.
    • Extensive LG internal network and thorough understanding of LG open innovation strategy. Must be able to approach senior executive level decision makers within the LG companies.

Preferred experience and skills:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in science or engineering.
    • Strong business development skills, including demonstrated ability to engage the right teams, get the attention of the decision makers, manage collaborative projects, and build network.
    • Experience in various technologies relevant to LG business.
    • Relevant relationships and contacts within LG.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
