About the role

We are looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer to join our Dispute Engineering team and play a key role in helping our members recover funds by building seamless and intuitive experiences.

As the senior front-end engineer, you will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and designers to create innovative solutions for our customer service agents and members. You will be responsible for leadership and mentorship and will be hands-on in the development lifecycle.

You will also have the opportunity to shape the roadmap for our internal applications and mobile app, driving impactful projects from concept to completion. Working closely with product managers, operations teams, and other engineering teams, you'll influence the design and functionality of mission-critical tools that empower both our team and our members.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $196,100 up to $245,100 USD. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Exercise technical leadership for high-impact projects in the Disputes Engineering team
  • Advocate for and implement best practices in UX development, ensuring a seamless and consistent user experience across all our applications
  • Implement product features and provide support or work with backend engineers to define and integrate platform APIs
  • Mentor, document, and share knowledge as part of your immediate team as well as through Chime Engineering as a whole
  • Foster collaboration across engineering teams to create reusable, scalable solutions, contributing to architecture blueprints that benefit the entire organization.
  • Lead projects by defining timelines, managing scope, overseeing development, and ensuring quality
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by actively participating in sprint ceremonies and process refinement
  • Participate in a community of practice (guild) around how our frontend ecosystem is architected, developed, tested, deployed, and released. Foster the community’s creativity, innovation, and learning.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • Deep knowledge and ability to navigate all aspects of front-end development, with 8+ years of active web and/or mobile development experience with React, React Native and Typescript
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player as well as a top-level individual contributor in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with engineers, designers and product managers
  • Work across the stack (React Native, Native iOS/Android, GraphQL API, CI/Build systems)
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tooling and web front end technologies and frameworks
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale
  • Desire to drive engineering culture within your immediate team, as well as within the larger organization
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work with cross-functional partners to define requirements, manage scope, and execute on software projects
  • Proficiency in writing thorough and effective tests for your code, including unit tests and integration tests, along with experience in rolling out features through a gradual process, closely monitoring their impact and scaling up through a slow ramp to ensure stability and performance.

What We Do

Chime was created because we believe everyone can unlock financial progress, and we want to develop solutions and services to empower people to succeed. The premise upon which we started Chime is simple: basic banking services should be helpful, transparent, and easy. Our easy-to-use tools and intuitive platforms give members the ability to have more control over their money and to take action toward achieving their financial ambitions.

By designing a member-centric banking app with easy-to-understand financial tools, we’re creating a more competitive market with options for everyday Americans. We offer access to accounts with no overdraft fees, provide members the chance to receive their pay up to 2 days early* with direct deposit, help them build credit history, and build financial literacy to hit their goals—among many other things.

Since 2012, we’ve grown our team to more than 1500 Chimers across 3 offices. But more than that, we’ve expanded the products and services we offer to our members based on member feedback. And in doing so, we’ve disrupted the banking industry and changed the conversation for everyday people about money on a national level.

Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., Members FDIC.

*Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.

Why Work With Us

Working at Chime means keeping our values in mind, putting our members first, and striving for long-term growth and success. To that end, we’re building an inclusive workplace where all perspectives and experiences are welcome on our team and creating an environment where every Chimer can thrive.
