About the Team:

The Content Platforms Engineering team is responsible for developing a scalable, high-performance infrastructure that powers the entire content delivery pipeline. From the initial onboarding of content to its seamless distribution, we ensure that all content reaches end users reliably and efficiently. Our team collaborates closely with the content and video teams, who handle content acquisition and work with us to process large volumes of raw video through transcoding to optimize it for streaming. We provide critical backend services and tools that enable smooth and efficient content ingestion, transformation, and delivery across various devices and platforms.

About the Role:

As a Tech Lead/Engineering Manager within the Content Platforms team, you will lead the Content Delivery team, driving initiatives that ensure efficient, scalable content delivery to end-user clients. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing the end-to-end content distribution pipeline at Tubi, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Content Management, Content Linear, Content Processing, and client teams, to enhance the reliability and performance of our content platform.

Please note: we expect this role to be a hands-on manager who can work with the team on technical design and development along with being a people manager. Technical design and code implementation should account for 50% of this role’s time while the other 50% will be team management, XFN collaboration, and planning.

This is a hybrid role in our San Francisco office.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers focused on content delivery optimization. Foster a continuous improvement culture, emphasizing technical excellence and career development
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Content Management, Content Linear, Content Processing, and client teams, to drive innovations that improve content delivery reliability and scalability
  • Oversee the system design and enhancement of distributed systems to ensure high availability, low latency, and seamless end-user experience
  • Strategically manage and optimize CDN and cloud storage solutions for various content types, including images, subtitles, and metadata. Implement solutions that balance performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in delivering these assets to end users

Your Background:

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, focusing on team development, performance management, and fostering a collaborative culture
  • 5+ years of experience with programming languages relevant to distributed systems (e.g., Elixir, Erlang, Golang, Ruby, Scala, Python)
  • Strong knowledge of databases, caching mechanisms, and performance optimization techniques essential for high-availability online services
  • Experience with gRPC/Protocol Buffers, Kubernetes, CDN, and cloud storage technologies
  • In-depth understanding of distributed system architecture, with experience in building scalable, resilient services that support efficient content delivery

California Compensation:

Base ($207,000 - $283,000 / year) + Bonus + Long Term Incentive Plan + Benefits
