Who We Are

Nuro is a self-driving technology company on a mission to make autonomy accessible to all. Founded in 2016, Nuro is building the world’s most scalable driver, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware. Nuro licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver™, to support a wide range of applications, from robotaxis and commercial fleets to personally owned vehicles. With technology proven over years of self-driving deployments, Nuro gives the automakers and mobility platforms a clear path to AVs at commercial scale, empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future.

About the Team
We are seeking an experienced Autonomy Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our Software TPM team in leading the development and deployment of cutting-edge autonomous systems. The successful candidate will manage complex projects in the fields of autonomous vehicles, robotics, or similar technology, ensuring that all technical milestones are met and that all aspects of the system — including perception, behavior, localization, and mapping — function seamlessly together.

About the Role
As the TPM for Autonomy, you will work cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, tooling & platform, operations and safety to oversee and coordinate the development, integration, testing, and deployment of autonomous systems. This role is crucial in ensuring that our systems are innovative, reliable, and safe.

About the Work

  • Lead and manage autonomous system projects from concept to deployment, ensuring that all deliverables meet technical and performance standards.
  • Cross-functional work with teams across perception, behavior, localization, mapping, systems, and ops to ensure that all components are aligned and integrated effectively.
  • Supervise the development of behavior and decision-making algorithms that enable the system to autonomously interact with its environment.
  • Oversee the testing and validation of autonomous systems in real-world environments and simulation, ensuring the system’s performance is reliable and safe.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to autonomy, including potential sensor failures, inaccurate localization, or system malfunctions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, technical challenges, and mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and adhere to agile project management practices, ensuring that technical milestones are met within project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure all components meet high-quality standards, and perform continuous improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of the autonomous system.
  • Set the vision to evolve the infrastructure, evaluation metrics, ML models, and performance.

About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering/Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Math / Physics majors, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing technical projects related to autonomy or robotics, with a strong understanding of perception, behavior planning, localization, and mapping systems.
  • Experience with autonomous AI systems development, including integrating hardware and software components.
  • Strong knowledge of autonomous system algorithms, sensors (LIDAR, cameras, radar), and data fusion techniques.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and business teams.
  • Strong understanding of agile project management principles and tools.
  • Experience in taking a program from initial concept to launch.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with simulation, testing, and validation methodologies for autonomous systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex, high-risk technical challenges.
  • Navigating differing priorities and aligning stakeholders.
