About the role & team:
Are you a passionate software engineer with deep expertise in building and optimizing infrastructure for software delivery? Are you equally comfortable designing, coding, and leading technical initiatives?
We are looking for a great staff infrastructure software engineer to design and build systems and services for on-device software delivery to robots in the field! The Software Platform Infrastructure team works closely with other software engineering teams throughout the company to ensure that Robotics operating system and software delivery is reliable, scalable, and efficient.
About the work:
Design and build infrastructure to enable safe systems and software delivery for Dexterity in production. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of folks with SWE, SRE, and systems engineer skill sets. While this is a software engineering position, you will also bring an SRE sensibility to systems design. Set direction for infrastructure quality and reliability. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers on the team and foster a collaborative work environment. Lead by example by providing code reviews and evangelizing engineering excellence across the Software Platform team. Guide tooling development and optimization of production systems.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in infrastructure software development, SRE, production engineering, and/or backend service development.
Experience in building and shipping high quality, scalable infrastructure
5+ years of experience in C++ or Go as well as a scripting language like Python.
Deep understanding of linux – especially around bootloaders, connectivity, memory management, filesystems, kernel, and drivers.
Strong systematic analysis and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or other cgroups based systems.
Expertise in source code & build systems: git and bazel
Familiarity with Google Cloud Projects
Strong understanding of software delivery pipelines and CI/CD best practices
Experience with IaC tooling, such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet
Fantastic communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

In-depth understanding of build systems like Bazel & release best practices
Experience in implementing security focused infrastructure features
Deep networking experience
Work on debugging, tracing, monitoring, and logging tooling

Our Total Rewards philosophy is designed to recognize contributions toward meaningful innovation. Base pay is one component of a broader compensation package that may include equity grants, benefits, and other incentives, depending on role and eligibility.
For this position, the expected base salary range is $170,000 to $225,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, education, and market factors, and may vary accordingly.
Final compensation decisions are made individually and take a number of factors into consideration. Eligible employees may be considered for equity awards as part of their overall compensation. Access to benefits and wellness resources is provided in accordance with company policies and may vary based on role and location.
