As the first Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager within our controllership function, based in our San Francisco office, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our financial reporting is both accurate and compliant. You'll lead the charge in implementing new accounting standards, handle financial reporting, and deliver critical insights to senior leadership. With expertise in US GAAP, SEC regulations, and key areas such as stock-based compensation, leases, and business combinations, you’ll drive innovation and excellence in our accounting practices. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Lead Technical Accounting: Oversee the company’s technical accounting operations, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations, while championing the adoption of new accounting standards.
  • Manage Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of accurate, timely financial statements, including quarterly and annual reports, ensuring they clearly reflect the company’s financial health and position.
  • Contribute to Internal Management Reporting: Play a key role in the development and delivery of detailed internal reports to senior leadership, offering insights and analysis that support informed decision-making strategic planning.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with FP&A, Legal, People, and Partnerships teams to provide reliable technical accounting guidance, ensuring cohesive alignment on key financial initiatives.
  • Support Audit and Filing Processes: Act as one of the primary contact for external audits, collaborating with auditors to ensure all filings are completed accurately and on time.
  • Operationalize Technical Accounting Guidance: Partner with accounting operations to implement and operationalize new technical accounting standards, ensuring seamless integration into the company’s financial processes.
  • Lead the Controllership Function: Serve as a key leader within the controllership team, offering expert guidance and support to accounting operations as neeed. Play a pivotal role in driving the department’s strategic direction and contributing to its overall success.

You will be successful here by:

  • Applying Deep Technical Expertise: Leveraging your extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance in all accounting and reportingprocesses.
  • Staying Current on Accounting Standards: Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in accounting standards and regulations, and effectively integrating new requirements into the company’s processes.
  • Ensuring Robust Internal Controls: Maintaining, enhancing, and building SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring that all financial processes and controls are effective and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively Identifying Issues: Anticipating potential accounting or reporting challenges and addressing them early, ensuring smooth financial operations and minimizing risks.
  • Communicating Effectively: Clearly conveying complex technical accounting topics to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organization.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement: Consistently seeking out opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes, implementing best practices and scalable solutions, contributing to a more efficient and effective controllership function.
  • Demonstrating Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Quickly analyzing and resolving complex technical accounting issues, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

We’re excited about you because:

  • You bring extensive experience in technical accounting: You have 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience in the technology industry, with a minimum of 4-5 years in public accounting, which provides you with a solid foundation in complex accounting principles.
  • You have a CPA or equivalent certification: Your professional certification demonstrates yourexpertise and commitment to high standards in accounting.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting: Your comprehensive understanding of these regulations enables you to ensure compliance and accuracy in all financial reporting.
  • You possess specialized expertise in key accounting areas: You have strong knowledge in areas such as stock-based compensation (ASC 718), equity (ASC 505), lease accounting (ASC 842), revenue recognition (ASC 606), and business combinations (ASC 805), which are critical to the role.
  • You have strong financial reporting skills: You have a proven track record of preparing and reviewing financial statements, including 10-Q and 10-K filings, in a public company setting.
  • You have expertise in SOX and internal controls: You have a strong background in Sarbanes- Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls over financial reporting, demonstrating your ability to design, implement, and monitor effective control frameworks that ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • You’re proficient in accounting and financial reporting systems: Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems, Workiva or similar financial reporting systems, advanced Excel skills, and data analysis tools such as SQL, Tableau, or Alteryx.
