About the role

We are seeking a Sr Director of Business Analytics to lead our business analytics team at Academia.edu. Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the analytics team to become an opportunity-finding group that identifies major opportunities using our data and helps determine what products and features we build next.
  • Lead, mentor and inspire a highly talented team to uncover meaningful insights and opportunities.
  • Help team members grow in their ability to ask the right questions, structure the right analyses, distill key insights, and come up with great recommendations on what to do next.
  • Recruit and hire highly talented business analysts. This team is growing and will more than double within the next 12 months.
  • Be a strategic advisor to the Chief Product Officer, the executive team, and the company in general.
  • Identify data-driven strategies to optimize user engagement, retention, and monetization. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations based on data insights and market trends.
  • Ensure that our data is easily accessible, usable and reliable

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience at McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Oliver Wyman, or LEK Consulting, ideally leading teams
  • Experience leading and developing a high performing business analytics team at a B2C technology business (startup experience is a plus), with a focus on driving business impact and results
  • A proven track record of identifying major insights that drive significant business impact
  • Deep ability to separate the signal from the noise. An 80/20 thinker with a focus on results
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms, as well as influence and inspire cross-functional teams

We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences.
