About the Role:

Are you a Developer that loves to educate other Developers? If so, Kong Education Services is looking for someone to drive curriculum development and deliver technical training to unlock learning for Kong’s Employees, Enterprise Customers, Partners and our vast OSS Community.

In this high-impact role, you’ll work with Kong’s engineering and product teams and our training production partners to create and deliver rich technical content to Kong’s technical audiences. We’re looking for that leader who has the vision, experience and passion to contribute to our culture and Kong’s success. 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • You will own and evolve Kong’s end-to-end content strategy and curriculum development for Kong. 
  • Design, develop, and maintain technical course materials across various delivery channels including instructor-led, virtual, and online learning. 
  • Direct the work of Kong’s course development partner, and together produce amazing technical materials that are offered to customers, partners, Kong’s Community users and new Kongers. 
  • Teach technical courses occasionally and record video lessons for Kong U, Kong’s online learning platform 
  • Be subject matter expert to trainers and professional services consultants, helping create and refine course material for custom delivery that can then be used for repeat delivery to other clients.
  • Work closely with Kong’s Engineering and Product teams to determine training development roadmap

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • You are a Developer (or one at heart) and you love to make complicated topics easier for people to access, learn and apply in real-world situations. 
  • You love to learn and see that spark of understanding in others. 
  • You have created course materials in the past that was easily delivered in person and in online formats. 
  • You have worked with a Learning Management System to deliver the course materials. 
  • You have a solid understanding and curiosity of the following technologies:
  • REST and RESTful APIs
  • Coding skills- (at a minimum read and troubleshoot code)
  • Containers, cluster deployment and management tools like Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes and others
  • You know your way around web architectures including HTTP
  • Bonus points for familiarity with DNS, Linux/Unix type systems and/ or databases
