As the audio team at Calm scales, new content verticals are now able to become a reality which allows even more lives to be improved through Calms wide range of content. As a Dialogue Editor and Sound Designer at Calm, you’ll be directly responsible for managing dialog edits and the inclusion of music and sound effects, which collectively help bring Calm’s content to life.

Outcomes

  • Edit dialog audio removing breaths, reverb, sibilance, mouth clicks, ambient sounds, anomalies, etc. and assembling final edit
  • Native Japanese speaker
  • Mix and finalize Sleep Story and meditation content to Calm’s aesthetic and specification
  • Coordinate with the Calm Localization team to meet Japanese Launch deadlines and subsequent ongoing content production deadlines and workflows
  • Continually work to help streamline and strengthen Calm’s Audio Production processes and workflows
  • 20 - 30 (or more) hours of availability for the first two months of launch production

Competencies

  • A motivated dialog editor/sound editor with an advanced understanding of audio post-production, to include exceptional editing and organizational skills 
  • Experienced, with 5+ years in dialog audio recording, editing, sound and music editing and post-production processes
  • Advanced experience with recording/editing tools such as Protools and Logic, iZotope RX and other audio software tools
  • Impressive attention to detail when it comes to audio quality
  • A self-starter who is internally motivated and thrives in a fast-paced production environment
  • Proven track record of creating high-quality content, with the ability to work quickly while not sacrificing attention to detail
  • Creative and collaborative problem solverDedicated to helping make the world a happier, healthier place

Along with being an Enterprise Account Executive at Calm, Brianna Gallagher also considers herself a seasoned digital nomad. “Working remotely at Calm has enabled me to travel the country at the same time!” she said. Even though Gallagher isn’t in the same room as her co-workers daily, she never feels disconnected. “Calm does a fantastic job with virtual team-building activities, and we just had a companywide retreat in Palm Springs to connect in person,” she added. “At Calm, everyone understands how mindfulness improves quality of life, and the way we work reflects that.”

Amritha Prasad and her product team kick off every week the same way: Set a plan, then gather each Thursday to reflect and collect feedback. “Our design critique structure helps designers collaborate informally to consistently raise the bar,” she said. This hands-on approach also helps Prasad stay connected to the customer experience and directly enhance Calm’s future possibilities in the mental health space. “My daily conversations consist of figuring out how to get someone to effectively manage stress or find ways to cope with tough situations, which is super rewarding.”
