THE TEAM

Eventbrite Security is responsible for all aspects of information security across the enterprise from Web and Mobile application security, to Security Awareness Training, to Policy and Compliance and a host of things in the middle. We’re charged with building the foundations that help protect the company’s information and our customer’s data.

THE ROLE

Eventbrite is looking for a talented Senior Security Engineer to take ownership of security initiatives, assess threats and vulnerabilities, analyze data and code, flesh out measurable objectives, design solutions, drive implementations, oversee testing and deployment, and ensure ongoing monitoring.

Additionally, this person will participate in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle including defining overall systems requirements and policies, working with specific engineering teams on security requirements, consulting with engineering teams providing technical expertise, and automation of systems and processes to do routine tasks faster in a DevSecOps fashion.

YOU WILL

  • Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information
  • Identify and define system security requirements
  • Design computer security architecture
  • Partner with engineering teams to specify security requirements into product requirements and test plans
  • Prepare, document, and execute standard operating procedures and protocols
  • Instrument Eventbrite systems to gather audit and other information needed for monitoring and response
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
  • Ensure that the company knows as much as possible, as quickly as possible about security incidents
  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement
  • Participate in operational reviews and periodic security compliance audits

THE SKILL SET

  • 5+ years as practical work experience in the information security space
  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems
  • Detailed technical knowledge of database and operating system security
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX operating systems
  • Programming abilities in Python/PHP/Ruby or similar programming language
  • Extensive knowledge of web application security, browser security models, and application security vulnerabilities such as the OWASP Top Ten
  • Mastery of security principles including confidentiality and integrity of data, authentication and authorization protocols, and other cryptographic protocols
  • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, audit logging, log management, spam control, etc
  • Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
  • Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures, Microservices) and of network/web related protocols
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
