About This Role

We are looking for an experienced Insurance Analytics Manager who will be able to work cross-functionally across various facets of our business. The person would be the PoC for our Insurance teams, closely working with these divisions to understand the current state of the business and discover avenues for optimization and improvement. This person will report into the Analytics lead, and work closely with the Chief Risk Officer on priorities.

About You 

You are creative, self-motivated, and eager to tackle problems in a fast-paced startup environment. You have a strong understanding of the techniques utilized in the actuarial and insurance industry - and are eager to innovate or challenge them. You’re able to identify and balance solving the long-term vs. short-term goals of the company by leveraging data-driven results. You are a highly effective communicator and have the ability to define processes that are modern and robust. 

Responsibilities:

  • Building, managing and maintaining the data framework needed to create complex analytical solutions to help drive decisions.
  • Develop visually appealing, detailed reports to support strategic business initiatives. You will be responsible for fully understanding project needs, identifying and producing robust, intuitive solutions that enable decision makers.
  • Work alongside the Insurance Functions and Actuarial teams to identify areas for data optimization and measure the impact of initiatives with data driven decision making.
  • Implement, and enforce best analytics practices and standards.
  • Build a deep understanding of our products, data, reporting needs, and key metrics.
  • Mine data at the customer level to gain a better understanding of their behaviors; provide deep insight and discover opportunities that drive the business.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or degree in quantitative field. Master’s preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years experience as an Analyst. 
  • Strong background in insurance, with knowledge of concepts such as losses, premiums exposures, and other key metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience building dashboards and databases.
  • Expert level skills with Excel, visualization tools (Tableau), programming languages (Python or R)
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture and best practices of relational databases.
  • Ability to work well independently and in cross functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in fast paced environments to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to present findings to different stakeholders.

 Bonus Points:

  • Work experience in a high growth tech or SaaS company.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and breadth of analytical experience.
