THE CHALLENGE

Eventbrite has the world’s largest data repository of live events, powering millions of events and hundreds of millions of ticket transactions each year in 170+ countries. The mission of the Analytics Platform team is to enable internal users (Product Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Marketing Analysts) as well as event creators and attendees to leverage our data assets in order to drive business growth. The Analytics Platform team is challenged with building high-performing data marts, implementing self-service data visualization solutions, and functioning as the resident data experts at Eventbrite.

THE TEAM

The Analytics Platform team is responsible for building a scalable, reliable and extensible platform to power data-driven decisions and products at all levels of the business. We are a small team with an oversized impact on the company’s results.

THE ROLE

The Principal Data Analytics Engineer role will define and promote our data-driven culture, providing thought leadership for Product, Finance, Data Science, Marketing, and Engineering to help make thoughtful decisions and engage in best practices. You will drive key decisions around how we work with Data at Eventbrite, both within the Data Strategy Organization and for the broader company, including taking ownership of the database design for in-product reports and driving validation efforts. This will include creating new data models as well as improving existing databases. You will have the authority to establish best practices for tracking and instrumentation -- linking product development and marketing goals to the data we collect. This is a great opportunity to advise our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams on best practices as well as shape the future landscape of data at Eventbrite, including what tooling and instrumentation we use (e.g. Amplitude vs Mixpanel).

This role will align closely with Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Marketing, serving as an established technical leader and in-house data expert, and enabling these teams to make forward-thinking, data-driven decisions. You’ll work on exciting projects that touch all parts of our data ecosystem, including working with technologies such as Python, SQL, Spark, Presto, Hive, Luigi, Airflow, MySQL, Redis, Superset, and Tableau.

  • Ability to analyze business requirements in various business functional areas and translate them into conceptual, logical and physical data models
  • Collaborate with peers to find solutions to complex problems. Share knowledge with your peers and also learn from them as required

  • Understanding of web technologies (like APIs and HTTP) and popular web formats (like JSON and HTML)
