Position description:

Calico is seeking a Senior Research Associate/Principal Research Associate who is excited to be part of a research team focused on translational research by applying cutting edge molecular/cellular techniques in various aging associated diseases. The role requires an experienced in vitro/ex vivo bench scientist with strong background in molecular/cellular and biochemistry experience. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who has clearly demonstrated a passion for translational research. The successful candidate must function as an integral member of the pharmacology team responsible for all aspects of in vitro/ex vivo testing and need to be detail-oriented, highly organized, flexible in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, capable of adopting new technologies, and have great time-management skills.

Position requirements:

  • BS/MS with minimum 10+ years of relevant lab experience in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry or a related discipline
  • Proven ability to take initiative, solve problems in the lab, and carry projects to completion, preferably in an industry setting
  • Demonstrate high level of independence in performing all aspects of in vitro experiments, but also an effective team player and enthusiastic collaborator with an expectation and opportunity to work in a coordinated manner with other members of the cross-functional team
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture/stable cell line generation, molecular biology (DNA/RNA prep, PCR, molecular cloning, etc.), biochemistry (Western blotting, ELISA, etc.), immunohistochemistry and RNA in situ hybridization, primary cell and tissue culture, organotypic/spheroid culture, FACS analysis high throughput screening using automation and tissue harvest and processing for histology, molecular biology, and biochemistry
  • Possess excellent time management skills and manage experiments in several projects concurrently
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and generate scientific data reports for project team discussion and future publications
  • Need to possess clear, effective written and verbal communication skills
