Serving and understanding our members is at the heart of everything we do. The Insights team is a small and growing team at Nextdoor that makes big impact by focusing on the experiences that serve Nextdoor’s members and customers. As a founding member, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams of passionate designers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists to craft and execute in-depth qualitative and quantitative research studies that play a critical role in shaping the Nextdoor experience. Our goal is to bring the voice of our members and customers to the forefront of decision making.

The Impact You’ll Make

Through research, you’ll provide insights that will help us create useful, vibrant, and delightful experiences for our members and partners that deliver on Nextdoor’s purpose to cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on.

  • Collaborate closely with other researchers, designers, product managers, marketers, and engineers to identify and prioritize opportunities where research can help improve a product decision or customer experience 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods, including surveys, user interviews, and behavioral data mining, and when and how to deploy them
  • Lead all aspects of a research project including: Meeting with stakeholders, scoping projects, choosing methodologies, creating research plans, writing discussion guides and/or developing surveys, leading interview sessions, synthesizing findings into meaningful themes, and writing actionable and impactful reports
  • Communicate research findings to inform business decisions through rich storytelling via presentations, reports, workshops and any other novel, creative approaches
  • Lead research projects that have had lasting impact on product and design decisions 
  • Mentor and teach others about UX research

What You’ll Bring to The House

  • B.A./B.S. or Masters in Human Factors, HCI, Psychology, Information Science, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, or equivalent 
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience conducting research on both desktop and mobile user experiences
  • Track record of using foundational, formative, and evaluative research methods from a broad range of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, such as user interviews, ethnographic field research, lab-based or remote usability studies, surveys, moderated group conversations, quantitative analyses, A/B testing 
  • Experience combining quantitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience balancing multiple varied projects at once while performing at a high level
  • Proven track record of working with cross functional development teams including PM, Design, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Customer Support.
  • Ability to plan and execute end to end research independently and take initiative to solve problems
