We're convinced that the way consumers interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years, and we believe that customers building on Plaid’s technology will be the ones to lead that change. As Plaid grows, we need designers who can take the foundations of our design system, Threads, and build it out to work flexibly across different audiences, geographies, and media. As a designer at Plaid, you’ll be focused on how Threads weaves into our go-to-market initiatives.

Psst, learn more about how we created our design system.

What excites you

  • Thinking strategically about how companies build their brands cohesively, but flexibly, according to different user needs
  • Thinking systematically about the principles behind how visual components are styled and shared across multiple touchpoints
  • Thinking creatively about when to advocate for new visual components or exceptions to the above (i.e., keeping things fresh)
  • Working across a wide range of media and channels: web design, advertising, social media, print, events and 3D experiences… you name it
  • Identifying research opportunities to assess user needs and the quantifiable value of the design system
  • Working collaboratively to drive alignment with design, marketing, product, and engineering teams
  • Seeking feedback early and often
  • Being part of a growing, world-class design team

What excites us

  • A diverse portfolio with a strong, opinionated visual style and point of view
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • An immersed understanding of visual design fundamentals and ability to execute
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in advertising, agency, and/or startup space
  • Experience with engaging and art-directing external agencies and freelancers
  • An interest in languages used for web development is a plus (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • An interest in motion, animation, or prototyping

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
