We're convinced that the way consumers interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years, and we believe that customers building on Plaid’s technology will be the ones to lead that change. As Plaid grows, we need designers who can take the foundations of our design system, Threads, and build it out to work flexibly across different audiences, geographies, and media. As a designer at Plaid, you’ll be focused on how we build Threads as a technical platform that can be used by designers and front-end engineers across the company.

Psst, learn more about how we created our design system.

What excites you

  • Thinking strategically about how a design system can scale across operating systems, platforms, and geographies
  • Thinking systematically about how to build and maintain a library of beautiful, intuitive components and patterns
  • Thinking creatively about ways that design systems and tooling can be more efficient and effective
  • Obsessing over the details, not just in how things look but how well they hold up to different constraints
  • Identifying research opportunities to assess user needs and the quantifiable value of the design system
  • Writing documentation and design system guidance for both designers and engineers
  • Working collaboratively to drive system adoption across design, product, and engineering teams
  • Seeking feedback early and often
  • Being part of a growing, world-class design team

What excites us

  • At least 4-6 years' experience as a systems designer (or, a product or production designer focused on systems tooling)
  • A diverse portfolio including interaction and systems design work
  • Proven experience helping front-end engineers and designers adopt design systems
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Proficiency in web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is not required, but a strong plus

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
