About us:

Grand Rounds is a new kind of healthcare company. Founded in 2011, the company is on a mission to raise the standard of healthcare for everyone, everywhere. The Grand Rounds team goes above and beyond to connect and guide people to the highest quality healthcare available for themselves and their loved ones. Grand Rounds creates products and services that give people the best possible healthcare experience. Named a 2019 Best Place to Work by Glassdoor and Rock Health’s 2018 Fastest Growing Company, Grand Rounds works with inspiring employers and doctors to empower them to be the change agents we need to make our shared vision a reality.

Our Purpose

Healthcare is confusing. It’s hard to access, to understand, and to ensure you’re getting the right care that leads to the right outcomes. Grand Rounds exists to make a difference in all of it. Our vision is to craft a path to great health and healthcare, for everyone, everywhere. We work alongside company’s insurance plans, helping to guide people to the best healthcare for them, from primary care to second opinions to helping address mistakes on medical bills.

Our team

We’re a tight, collaborative team of researchers and product designers working in close partnership with our product management, engineering, data science, and operations teams. Our research helps inspire, design, and build the products that fuel Grand Rounds mission to raise the standard of healthcare for everyone, everywhere. We have a direct impact on product strategy, roadmaps, and new experiences. We are passionate advocates for all our users - from our award-winning care team, to our doctors and clinicians, to the users who use our products and services every day. We are transforming a confusing and archaic system and we relish the challenge of making life better for the people who need us the most.

You!

We’re looking for a deeply curious Staff UX researcher who is intrigued by the uniqueness of each person, while being able to discern the patterns in group behaviors. If you strive to understand the underlying motivations of seemingly contradictory decision making, in order to help companies and individuals help themselves, we might have a perfect role for you.

You’re excited to tackle difficult questions and bring clarity. You know the kind of questions that can benefit from your experience and expertise, and you’re eager to find and share the answers. You’ve run qualitative research studies that have uncovered insights that have changed the course of your products and services - and you’ve helped your team feel confident when they’re on the right track.

You are passionate about generative research. You know that we’re often answering the wrong question and that a little more digging often uncovers the question that we should be asking. You’re comfortable telling the organization uncomfortable truths about what we’re doing - with clarity, compassion, and conviction.

Cross-functional peers across the organization come to you for advice on how to better understand the impact they’re delivering in marketing, sales, and support. Your clear and inviting communication brings people along, and your empathy and connection let them see the world from the user’s perspective.

Your work demonstrates your strengths, and an innate curiosity to understand people’s needs and working styles. You build positive relationships with product managers, engineers, and front-line support. You value open and honest discussion and are always looking to learn. You wholeheartedly empathize with the human side of the patient experience and want to make healthcare delightful.

*We are headquartered in San Francisco but this person can sit anywhere in the US.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in qualitative research, with an emphasis on shipping useful, usable, and delightful products and services.
  • A body of work that clearly demonstrates insight, empathy, and an ability to tackle complex problems on behalf of users in collaboration with your peers in design, program management, and engineering.
  • Passionate advocacy for high-quality research, design, execution, and implementation of mobile apps and responsive web applications that demonstrably meet user needs.
  • Mastery of mixed-methods research, including qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and synthesis, that help the company understand what questions we should be asking, and to increase our understanding of users.
  • Ability to evangelize and teach research methods across the company, from design to product to operations.
  • Compelling communication capabilities. You understand that telling the story or our work is one of the most impactful parts of what we do so that we can bring our learnings and insight to our leadership team.

Bonus Points:

  • Healthcare experience with patients or providers
  • Experience in service design
  • Real passion for the Grand Rounds product suite; belief that our services can transform how we access and utilize healthcare
