Opportunity 

We are looking to add a Cloud FinOps Engineer to our growing SRE team! The SRE team owns UJET’s cloud based infrastructure, security, and scaling. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Cloud Engineer who has built and maintained cloud infrastructure at scale with proven experience executing cost optimization initiatives. The Cloud FinOps Engineer’s primary focus will be to create visibility in the organization for our cloud spend while leading the technical optimization to improve performance and cost efficiency of the cloud infrastructure powering UJET’s engineering and production services. 

Responsibilities 

  • Partner with Engineering to design and implement new services in the most cost-efficient way
  • Partner with Finance to create reporting dashboards and processes for effective cost forecasting and analyses
  • Collaborate with other members of the SRE team, including SecOps, to reduce complexity while maintaining industry leading compliance standards across all cloud infrastructure and other SaaS-based services
  •  Develop and deploy infrastructure changes to implement design and strategy decisions targeting cost optimization, security, and best practices
  • Develop and implement strategies and automation to maximize resource utilization and minimize costs
  • Build and maintain a data warehouse containing cloud resource utilization and cloud billing details
  • Create monitoring to quickly identify and resolve unexpected spending increases 
  • Make recommendations for purchase agreements and terms that reduce overall spend
  • Participate in regular on-call rotation

Requirements 

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience with AWS (GCP a plus)
  • Experience with AWS billing and cost management tools and processes (GCP a plus)
  • Proven experience in Cloud Cost Management
  • Extensive experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools 
  • DevOps experience and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash)
  • Desire to automate and strong experience with relevant automation tools 
  • Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery
  • Intellectual curiosity that motivates you to keep up on top of technical trends 
  •  Highly organized and have the ability to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items
  • Extremely detail oriented, organized, a self-starter and a great communicator
  • Demonstrate high ownership and ability to drive issues to resolution 
  •  You are self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams
