About Your Team

The Systems Engineering team is responsible for the architecture, integration and validation of autonomous driving capabilities across engineering disciplines. Systems Engineering works at the intersection of hardware and software with deep expertise in both.

About Your Role

The Compute Technical Lead is responsible for driving our compute functional and physical architecture. This involves managing both technical and programmatic activities, including architectural trade studies, current platform development, and supplier engagement.

About Your Work

  • Work with the Systems, Autonomy Software, and Hardware engineering teams to define autonomy computer requirements
  • Drive trade studies between different computer architectures, including edge vs central computing, allocation of processes to physical hardware, and evaluation of current and future compute hardware
  • Develop and manage both near-term and long-term compute hardware roadmaps, which includes supplier evaluation, make vs buy trade studies, and resourcing plans
  • Create and manage compute architecture design validation plans

About You

  • Deep knowledge of compute architectures and capabilities (x86, ARM, GPU, FPGA, etc)
  • Experience developing computer systems for processing of neural networks
  • Deep expertise in compute for vision systems, including GPU, FPGA and image signal processing
  • Experience as project manager for hardware development, managing execution risk in schedule and cost, and managing internal and external project dependencies
  • Experience with supplier management and creating / meeting hardware delivery schedules
  • Experience taking a hardware/system all the way from design to production
  • Nice to haves:
  • Familiarity with machine learning perception methods
  • Experience designing and validating compute architectures for safety-critical applications, including familiarity with multi-core/lock-step microprocessors
