To support our rapid expansion, we are hiring a hands-on Engineering Manager (3D) who enjoys mentoring and guiding engineers and leading interesting 3D technical projects to join our software engineering team in our San Francisco office. This is a great opportunity for a senior or lead engineer looking to take the next step in their career. Reporting directly to our VP of Engineering, you’ll help facilitate communication in all directions while getting your hands dirty and building cool things!

The Position

In this role, you’ll lead and collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers and product managers to tackle the many exciting challenges in our marketplace. As a people manager, you’ll mentor and guide your engineers, not only with their day-to-day task but also in their career paths, helping to clear roadblocks and encouraging growth, while fostering higher engagement. As a member of our Engineering leadership team, you will work with our CTO, VP and other Engineering Managers to guide strong technical decisions on a variety of projects, while partnering with Product to establish iterative timelines that bring customer projects to life. * Continually enhanced our designers productivity by adding new features to our internal designing tool, like automated styling.

* A real time GPU based rendering prototype.

* Investigations in new materials to make our renders even more lifelike.

What We’ve Gotta Have

* 2+ years’ experience as a team lead or manager of a software engineering team, shipping scalable, maintainable, highly available services in a production environment.

* 5+ years’ experience with Javascript for web application development, with a strong understanding of 3D and rendering technology.

* Experience with one of the following technologies: OpenGL, WebGL, DirectX, ThreeJS, BabylonJS. 

* Experience collaborating with diverse teams, leading code reviews, and learning new technologies.

* Excitement about revolutionizing the way people design their homes.

Our Engineering Team + Tech Stack

Our frontend is written in React and makes use of Redux. For our 3D web applications we use BabylonJS extensively. Our services are hosted in, and make heavy use of services provided by AWS, including: DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS, EC2, ECS, RDS (MySQL), Cloudformation and more. Our backend is written in python, and our web APIs make use of both Django and Flask. We try to make heavy use of Feature Flags in our release process, and are constantly working on ways to make releasing code easier and faster for our engineers, while maintaining uptime.
